If you take the one line he says about how he almost liked it as much as Half Life 2 out of context, then, sure it sounds like he likes the game. If you listen to anything else he says in the review, it sounds like he barely enjoyed it, and that the only reason that he really liked playing it was because it's one of the few mediocre games in a sea of shitty games lately.

You backtracked now.

I take it neither of you watch ZP very often. As someone who has watched literally every new review of his, every week, for the past four years, I can tell that he does indeed like the game. You have to understand the kind of scale he uses. If he says it's a "terrible, terrible game", then it's probably bad. If he says it's just "bad", then it's probably OK. And if he says it's "OK", then it's probably amazing. Crysis 2 falls into the last one.

Yahtzee tears apart every single game he reviews, regardless if he likes it or not. It's part of the entertainment. He's not just a reviewer; he's a comedian. Even Portal, Amnesia, and Just Cause 2 - games which he enjoyed immensely - were still trashed quite a bit in his videos. So while he doesn't exactly do game reviews in a traditional sense, he's actually pretty spot-on most of the time, and he's influenced many of my game purchases... for the better.

I didn't know anyone watched his reviews for anything other then some laughs. Yeah he is good at pointing out what is wrong/bad with a game (or entire game) but that's really imo. I still watch his stuff like once every month or two though for some laughs.

It is a lot like Half Life 2. I thought that while playing, pretty damn lame at points, and not really much better than that game in a significant way, but good.

I'm not going to argue over this anymore as you're obviously wrong, no matter how much of a Yahtzee expert you are, but the part where he shows Crysis 2 above barely above the line, and then Kane and Lynch 2 below it proves that he thought the game was mediocre at best and only gave it praise because pretty much every thing else that's been out lately is shit.

but u guys..

the game has no DX10, has no DX11, is considered the latest version of crysis.

I mean.. even Crysis1 had at least DX10 support.

The game isnt anywhere near the hardware breaking game we labeled the entire crysis series as.

Actually DX10 was considered to be inefficient and broken. The main reason for DX11 was to fix all the little issues in DX10. A game that supports only DX10 even though DX11 has been out a while is just asking for trouble.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I much prefer this method of only needing to pay $50-60 to play my games. Not $60 + $200-300 for hardware upgrades.

eh I've seen a lot of yahtzee vids and I'm going to have to disagree. The game could be utter gold but he's still going to smear shit all over it before he admits to it.

And how does having SUPPORT for DX11 affect that? No one is forcing you to max out the game. Go back to consoles if you want everyone to stay in the past with old crappy hardware.

A game can support more then one DX.

I liked Crysis 2 a helluva a lot more than I thought I would.

It's definitely above whatever fetid set of values passes for average these days...
If he rated games, it sounds like he would give it a B, or a mid 80's rating. Which is about what most reviewers have given it.

Yahtzee's reviews are hit or miss in the accuracy department. He isn't much of a gamer. But he is funny as fuck. From what I've played of Crysis 2, it didn't remind me at all of Half-Life 2. Maybe that comes later on, I guess.

You either agree or disagree with his views... they can't be accurate or not as they're just opinions.

You didn't need a hardware upgrade to play Crysis 1. You did need it to try and run the game at max detail, which is fine. Today's games have removed the max option, so if you were always a mid-range to low end video card user, you don't notice the shift. For those who had higher end hardware, they are annoyed at the change.

In other words, you method of "only needing to pay $50-$60 to play my games" has always been there, but it's the higher end users who have gotten the shaft, so it's understandable why people would be upset.

I suppose. I can kind of understand the frustrations, but TBH I'd rather have the game itself early and wait for the DX11 patch than have the entire game release delayed just so they can say it shipped with DX11. Because that's basically what people are bitching about...

Maybe because I know in my heart that it won't make that much of a difference to me, as when I change to DX11 in Metro 2033 my FPS cuts in half to around 30-40, but I really don't think it looks much better. I feel like Crysis 2 will be similar. Again, I believe I'm a minority here but I just haven't understood what difference each DX version has made. I'll run whatever I can run smoothly, but in the games that support all modes I haven't noticed enough of a visual jump to justify such a hit in framerate.

Comments can't be inaccurate? So if I say Quake was a real time strategy game about dinosaurs there wouldn't be any inaccuracies there?
