So Yahtzee reviews SSBB this week and he's a wee bit tough on it.

Best part? How he denigrates his fans like a cockbag and then they all show up in the forums to shower to tell him how awesome he is. I just don't get it...

Oh I gotta watch this. I regret buying the game and wish I could get the $50 back. :(

I think he expected yahtzee to say good things about SSBB and instead yahtzee slams it. Didn't watch the video yet tho, but that's my impression :)

I loved it. He makes lots of valid points.

I never liked SSB, especially Brawl. I had the misfortn of being stuck with the Wii mote while playing with 3 other friends that all had Wavebirds. I proceeded to get owned because the Wii mote controller is awkward as all hell to use, too little buttons, too spaced apart.

It also sucked that because it was party game, and was fairly new, None of the characters were unlocked. So spending the next 20 minutes trying to Snake, we succeded. And then realized the game was boring us. Final Smashes break the game. Me being a total newbie, was able to get the Snake Smash, and proceed to kill everyone on the map within 15 seconds. Then with Meta knight, I started button mashing and got his tornado attack to work like 10 times in a row, and just juggled the other characters.

Granted it WAS fun for about 20 minutes, then we realized that we weren't having fun anymore. We all used every unlocked character, and fought on the unlocked maps. And that was it. The game is just monotonous after a bit and you never want to play again.

I also loved his attack on the fanboys on the end. Greenday at the end rounded it off perfectly.

I liked 64 but after that it became too frantic. They nerfed grabs too! Now the computer just shield whores all the time!

Spot on yahtzee. spot on.

I continue to hold on to my Wii just in case a good game comes out when I'm least expecting it. I don't follow game releases for the console anymore because I continue to get disappointed. But I want to refrain from selling the game products I buy, just because when I do, I miss them the next day. Eventually get over it, but I think the Wii has a chance if Nintendo takes itself seriously and makes a game for gamers. Super Smash Bros. is one of those games that well... really only needed one of. Mario Party is the one game I appreciate having so many versions, because some suck, and some are fun. The Wii version of MP is one of the fun ones, especially if you have a group. But I get tired of all these rehashes and games made for the non-gaming public that got turned on by the Wii because it had so much hype. Damned artificial demand. No way Nintendo cannot crank enough out. It's not particularly advanced tech. Nintendo has to be purposefully making low units. PS2 had no problem selling the numbers it did, and it was advanced at the time. Sure, it had a production problem in the beginning, but it didn't last long.
oops, sorry for the rant.

go yahtzee. :D

Cool review. Having to unlock multiplayer characters in a fighting game is a huge no-no, IMO.

I had to listen to that to figure out what "THAT GUY" meant but it agreed with my previous feelings towards SSBB and various other Smash Bros. incarnations. I hadn't actually played any versions of the game, but based on what I'd seen and heard, it felt like a lot of button mashing.

Thankfully, I'm not really "that guy" at anything, except maybe the old Street Fighters. Not that I was that great mind you. But since it's not really a party game anyway, no worries.

*EDIT: I just realized ftw is the reverse of wtf.

Sigh... Still haven't opened my SSBB or MP3. Got them from Costco, so I can return them anytime I want. Maybe I'll return them when Costco sells the PS3 GMS3 bundle.

Damnit, I'm a "that guy" at Mario Kart; the douche that snakes across the entire circuit and laps everyone while they try to grasp drifting in a kart racer.

Fuck, I'm also "that guy" at Halo because I know where the shotgun and other "noobish" weapons are in every damn stage.

I need to get out more.

No, I just think he's extra tough on this one. I don't really like the game either, but I think a couple of things bleed through his reviews, this one in particular. Namely, his distaste (putting it mildly) of the Japanese. You get that sometimes from aussies and kiwis. And apparently if you like the Nintendo or any of the Mario franchises a lot, you're a worthless pile of shit. I just bought my Wii a month ago and I feel like when I watch these reviews somehow I'm a retarded unoriginal moron.

I think he nails a lot of reviews. Condemned review was dead on. I think I'm just so past this type of humor. Hey, if you like it, keep watching his reviews. I was just wondering if anyone shared my view.

He's being hard on this one because his inbox was probably spammed with millions of REVIEW SSBB PLZ. He became the ultimate troll by bashing it.

I completely agree with the review. I haven't picked the game back up after giving it a good 6-8 hours of effort.

I think I am just not intrigued with fighting games anymore.

I enjoyed the review he makes a some good points about the game. Single player was lacking, some of the unlockable characters aren't all that interesting (Wolf, Falco, Marth, Ness), and there was so much more potential for more third party characters, online and map making.

Overall though, I think SSBB is a great game and did actually manage to live up to the massive amount of hype it generated.

As usual, Yahtzee makes some good points in a funny package and tears up a game that I personally enjoy. And after watching that four-minute flash video, I'll still enjoy SSBB along with my 360, PC, and future PS3 games. This one will just happen to get more message board time because it appeases the current anti-Nintendo backlash amongst the harcore/core/xenophobic/elitist gamers.
