They even played a few songs as "direct recordings" from the concert, but I'm not sure if this was true or not (they sounded live and a lot different from the original versions). Anyways, I thought this was pretty cool of the radio station because the set list and order of songs is phenomenal. I really wish they played Achille's Last Stand, beggers can't be choosers I guess.

The radio station also said that despite their being sound and video recording equipment, there has been no confirmed word as to whether or not they will release a CD/DVD.

2nding Achillies' Last Stand

This is not Zeppelin. Last time I checked Bonham was still dead and frankly I can't see how these geriatrics can pull it off. There will be frequent breaks to change the Depends. ;)

You're right.
The Beatles were never the same after Pete Best left.

:p
Yep, and Van Halen was never the same after Michael Anthony replaced Mark Stone on bass, either.

And Van Halen was never the same after Eddie had a hip replacement.

...</a>

..didn't he also have throat cancer??
No, tongue cancer. He's fine now, and his hip is fine. He jumps all around the stage, and still plays the hell out of the guitar.

The Zep clips sound okay, but Plant still has zero use of his his old high register. Can't even come close to the notes he used to hit, but everyone has known this for twenty years.
When he's singing lower, he still sounds like Robert Plant.
Jimmy Page is a notoriously sloppy live player, but he sounded pretty good on the clips I heard.

Well, a Bonham is still playing the drums, and he'll sound just like his dad.

I saw Page & Plant on their "Walking Out of Clarksdale" tour, and they sounded like Led to me. Bonham's son Jason was on drums, and the guy on keyboards filled in nicely for Jones. It's still in the top 3 concerts I've ever seen. Double standing ovation at the end...I thought the arena was going to collapse it was so loud :D

Thanks for all the clips!

John Paul Jones needs to share that fountain of youth he found with Plant and Page. Is it me, or does Jimmy Page look old enough to be John Paul Jones' father even though there is only like two years difference in age between the two?

Jimmy was sloppy in his heroin days. Since he cleaned up in the late 80's, he's got a lot of his chops back. His Black Crowes/ Page Plant concerts featured nearly flawless playing (but a lot less improv---that might have had a lot to do with it too).

Hair dye is a hell of a drug :) If Jimmy dyed his hair, he'd look 10 years younger too.

He completely kicks @ss over other singers that come to mind in the similar age range, like jagger, mccartney, elton john, billy joel etc. in range and clarity. He still has an outstanding voice, which most his age and music style have already trashed with so much smoking and screaming over the years.

Robert Plant fans should see this;

Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation

"Filmed in high definition during the 2005 "Mighty Rearranger" tour, this intimate PBS "Soundstage" concert captures the onstage magic of rock icon Robert Plant performing Led Zeppelin classics such as "Black Dog" and "Whole Lotta Love," plus newer solo works with his band The Strange Sensation. The set list also includes "Four Sticks," "Freedom Fries," "No Quarter," covers of "Hey Joe" and "Girl from the North Country" and more."

while I think this comes from a dvd I think Page did a better job than he did last night. Seemed like his solo was very short.

Dude, that came from a performance 35 years ago. He was a hot dog in his 20's- now they're just proving they can still rock. If they play together for a length of time, Jimmy will start doing that stuff again.

Hmm. Jagger never was much of a technical singer...still sounds pretty much like he always did.
Billy Joel? Can still hit more of his old notes than Plant can.

Elton John? Plant is better....Elton's voice has dropped an amazing amount. He's almost a baritone now.

McCartney? That's about a wash between him and Plant now. I'd say Sir Paul has a better chance of hitting more of his old highs than Plant.

Best singer still in that age range? Sammy Hagar, hands down. He's 60, and can hit nearly any note that he ever hit. It's amazing how much every else's voice from his age group has dropped and Sammy has barely dipped. His tone has changed a bit, but the range is still 98% there. Heck, that's who Jimmy Page should have done that tour with, instead of the Black Crowes. Sammy could nail nearly all of that old Zep stuff.

And BTW, Plant attributes his loss of range to smoking over the years. Don't know if he still smokes or not.

All those other guys have become much more raspy over time than Plant has, even tho Plant had a cleaner sound to begin with imo. Haggar is a good point tho, he was amazing before and still is.
