I'd like to get one, but I am a running kind of guy. Anyone here have one and run/exercise with it?

Cliff Notes:

I have an RCA Lyra but I really do not like it. I got it because it was cheap and because my Rio Sport died on me. I have heard that running with a hard drive based mp3 player can kill the hard drive, so I want to be sure, before I get something like the Zen Micro, that I can jog with it.
Any opinions or knowledge on this subject will be very helpful. Thanks alot and I love you.

Look, I know from experience, dont run with a hd based mp3 player. It will shorten the life of the hd and will probably make it skip sometimes. Maybe it is just the dell dj, but I have been through 3 djs since I got one last may (thank god for the dell warranty) due to jostling it around too much.

This is a microdrive though. Does that make a difference?

Plus I wanna be able to put my whole collection on it, and listen to FM Radio.
May'be I should stick with the Lyra.

Well, it's less than that.
I don't download alot of music. Although I probably should before they shut down AllofMP3.com.

I bought a 4GB Muvo2 and took the HD out for my camera. I replaced it with a 1GB Microdrive that I had been using, and it died after 4 running sessions. The combination of using it in a camera and running killed it in no time.

I'm not saying that it'll happen to you, but it does shorten the average life of the HD.

I run with mine, no problems. Who cares about shortening it's life, even if this rumor is true. Most of us here won't have it longer than 2 years anyhow. They'll have MP3 playing contact lenses by then and we'll want 'em.

just don't drop it on concrete and complain that it doesn't work after that (yes, I know somone that did this and complained... and it was a HD based one, not the microdrive ones).

Get a cheapo 128mb flash player for running and, if you still want it, a good hard drive player for other uses where you won't be shaking it.
