It seems that the OEMs are not very enthusiastic about pushing Alder / Raptor Lake notebooks
Ehhhhh wouldn't say so.
BTW, did you catch Lisa saying that AMD is building up inventories of Phoenix?
They're just back to having client inventories that you can actually count with something not fingers on your hand.
Qualcomm sucks.
You don’t think they’ll ship volume of MTL?
No.
They never planned to.
Surely by Q1 2024 it should have decent availability no?
It's a premium select designs part.
Think RMB and not Alder/Raptor.
Didn't Intel say by 2025 they will chip 100m AI PCs with Intel Chips?
They've also said PC TAM will reach 300m units and we know how that went.

Strix launching in late Q2 or early Q3 would mean devices in 2025, if Phoenix is a precedent.
So... MLID of all people seems to get things right? Delivered the Architecture overview too?

If so, for 2024 Win12 release all they got are Phoenix refreshes to compete with Snapdragon Elite/MTL?
I know what you meant, surely Phoenix's launch was not giving much confidence. Let's hope AMD learned the lesson and solve any issues before launching Strix Point.

As for stock availability, it is actually depends on OEM's projected sales target. OEM might show more interested in Strix Point if MTL is not up to Windows 12's requirements of 45 TOPS (pending conformations). we shall see how things turn out...

No they just ditched 4Q cadence for mobile parts.
So they switched the model number scheme to reflect a yearly cadence that now actually doesn't exists with any product? Maybe AMD should consider encoding the year and month in the model numbers then like some software already does...

Can't wait for the 8730U aka Cezanne+++.

But maybe non-yearly cadence could be good. If AMD can have real Zen 5 laptops available only a quarter after announcement then it is an improvement.

Yes that is kind of what it means in volume but it depends on what you're after. Phoenix was unveiled at CES but in practice the launch was summer and at volume, for NA etc it's still not fully out yet if you want something like an ultrabook that doesn't have a dGPU and U chip.

Like the Asus ZenBook S13 or Zenbook 14 with Zen 4 still haven't launched yet in NA. Lenovo doesn't have a Slim/Yoga-style laptop in NA that has a Phoenix chip and no dGPU.

There are some ThinkPad/Thinkbook Lenovo ones that did launch in the summer though. And the HP Pavilion Plus just launched which is solid for a less expensive ultrabook.

Obviously there are plenty of dGPU and HS SKU options though.

Zen 5 mobile will probably mimic this. Better than Rembrandt sure but if you're in NA and want a Lenovo/Asus 15-30W offering it'll be at least a year unless something radically changes.

MLID has good source, and has been proven times and times again despite the raging hatred from many.
