I saw someone playing it at Best Buys a few weeks ago and I'm still not impressed with how they are now doing the Zelda series. While the graphics "technically" might be great, It's all kiddied up and Link looks stupid. I guess I'm spoiled looking at games like Splinter Cell and Halo. I used to be a huge zelda fan, but they've gone a too cartoony direction for me.

EDIT: It does appear they are gearing more towards younger ones. "The Wind Waker seems to be easier than previous entries in the series. Most of the game's in-dungeon puzzles are really straightforward, and the game's bosses rarely put up a terribly threatening fight. Even the game's multistage final boss battle is only marginally difficult "

Bah. People are ONLY giving this game good reviews because it's "Zelda".

but wait... so technically... that's not Link anymore? :Q  :(

<---considering buying a GC just for this game

Every Zelda game has had a different Link (except for Link's awakening, which could be any Link). I believe the order goes Ocarina of Time -> Wind Waker -> Zelda I -> Zelda II -> Link to the Past. I don't think there's a good analysis of the connection between the different games on the net anymore, ever since the site ZHQ ceased to be. You might be able to access ZHQ using archive.org.

This game is pretty damn awesome. I've already put in about 2 hours on it since getting it yesterday on the way home from work. 2 hours is a lot of time for just yesterday. I'm just about to set sail on my boat, but I think I want to run around that town a little bit more to find that guy his delivery bag or whatever it is. If it even is on the island anywhere.

How are you guys liking it so far?

I'm up to the third dungeon. The colors and graphics are stunning. The sailing is a tad slow so it got boring fast. Great game though.

I have the bad habit of running around too much trying to find stuff. I could play this game for 5 hours before I get to where you're at if I'm not careful.

Ugh, cell shading graphics are ugggglyyyy. They really tried to appeal to the younger audience with this one.

These graphics actually add to the mood of this game in a way that non-cell shaded graphics could.

The worst you could say about the graphics are that they are different. It's certainly not ugly. If you want ugly, go back to some older PS1 games.

I just finished the third dungeon. :) It's getting good.

I'd have to say that it?s better than Prime, only because I like the Zelda theme more than Metroid.

scared of something new? i think the graphics are great, its like playing a cartoon, what's wrong with that? anyway, it runs really smooth and has neat animations.

I picked mine up from preorder, and then I saw the new GBA SP. I ended up returning Zelda and getting the SP. I figure I can probably get Zelda used somewhere for around $30 next month.

It just shows that some 3rd party companies need to jump in and produce an RPG type game for the Cube instead of CRAP.

Maybe he's one of those people that prefers "adult" games. Unless Link is raping women and doing drugs in a photo-realistic world, it's too much of a "kiddie" game for his refined taste.

I've actually found myself laughing and actually feeling in touch with the emotions of the characters in the game. The facial animations are great! Anybody who remotely enjoys a great gaming experience and dogs on the graphics of Zelda obviously have not seen it in action. It's just wonderful.

I think back to what everyone thought Zelda would look like in the tech demos shown before the Gamecube was released, and I can't even imagine this game now with those kind of graphics. That one guy (Miyamoto? I can't remember his name) is a pure genius.

First, they doubted Metroid. Then, they doubted Zelda. When are we gonna learn? These are hands down the best 2 games I've played on consoles in the past full year.
