This morning I checked the logs and the flippin livejournal folks leeched another image. It wouldn't be a big deal except for the livejournal "friends' feature which spreads leeched images all over the place. I swapped that one out for a "don't steal" replacement. I can't go the vulgarity route as I run a commercial site and it would be bad for business. I need to come up with an image redirect script geared specifically to the livejournal site, though bloggers are getting bad too.

Is it "leach" or "leech"?

It's either.

I'd say it's "leech."

An example of leaching is when nutrients are washed through soil by water, so say, "The rainwater caused potassium to be leached from the soil."

An example of leeching is having something use another thing for its own benefit, much like a parasite, and exactly how ZDNET was acting by linking to the OP's website.
