He looks like a pretty "average" middle-eastern guy if you ask me. You can't miss the tall weirdo Bin Laden though.

Holy flubs, Batman. Looks like we were too busy torturing to notice the big AQ fish right in our grasp.

Most Iraqis dont have access to the internet, and probably do not have access to reliable news coverage...I doubt many even know what Zarqawi looks like.

Hell, I have seen numerous photos of him, but if I were to pass him on the street, unless he was yelling "jihad," I probably wouldn't take notice.

Little bit of a difference between 'walking past him in the streets' and 'had him under lock and key, but let him go'

Iraqi security forces caught...

High five for reading comprehension.

Oh, and the Iraqi security forces aren't under our supervision at the moment? Oh, OK. It's all good then. And hey, the Iraqi Security Forces are quite capable of torture too.

Iraq: Torture Continues at Hands of New Government

Police Systematically Abusing Detainees

(Baghdad, January 25, 2005) -- Iraqi security forces are committing systematic torture and other abuses against people in detention, Human Rights Watch said in a new report released today.

The 94-page report, The New Iraq? Torture and Ill-treatment of Detainees in Iraqi Custody, documents how unlawful arrest, long-term incommunicado detention, torture and other ill-treatment of detainees (including children) by Iraqi authorities have become routine and commonplace. Human Rights Watch conducted interviews in Iraq with 90 detainees, 72 of whom alleged having been tortured or ill-treated, particularly under interrogation.

Uh huh. High five for swallowing the rightwing/neocon/pnac BS. Show me one report that states Iraqi forces are autonomous.

You are right...was just trying to illustrate the point, but if anything, it demonstrates the effectiveness of Iraqi security forces...unless of course, they intentially let him go...there are reports that Iraqi units have been infiltrated by Al Quaida and Saddam loyalists.

It seems to me that they released him precisely because they knew who he was ...

Ommm, I don't think it was the right time to catch this guy yet.... If they did catch him then how would "AMERICA" have an excuse to keep spending 1.8Billion a day? Who would be the enemy?

Who ever heard of a war with no enemy? I guess we got to have some bad guy somewhere....
