Zalman VF900, how much better than VF700?

I've been kind of looking at GPU HSFs and these Zalman units look decent. SVC has the VF700-AlCu for $25, both regular and LED fan. They have the VF900-Cu for $40. Both look to be rather universal and the VF900 is good for the X1900 series while VF700 is not. I don't have an x1900 (best is 7900GT). Is the VF900 so much better that it's worth almost twice the cost? How noisy are these things running at full speed? Any links to reviews that covered both products? TIA.

what case are you using?
it should be est 5C difference, even more if its moutned upside down

Yes I know. My excuse is I got called in to work to cover for someone, only got 4 hours of sleep, and I have an ear infection.

I can guarantee that it's not "worth" twice the cost though, and I don't even know how much they cost or how well they perform.

I run mine at full speed and its extremely quiet, as for being better I cant say since I never had the 700.

I've had both coolers, and from my experience I can tell you the following:

1. The vf900 is about 3-5 degrees cooler, comparing both at 100% speed

2. The vf900 is slightly louder at 100%

3. Neither one could keep my x1900xt from reaching 90C under heavy load.

my idle temp for x1900xt is 39 and my load temp is 65. i think your vf900 should be remounted...? or clean up your case?

Couldn't you just turn a regular case upside down. Like I have the Super Lanboy by Antec, seems I could turn it upside down. I'd just have to mount the optical drives upside down as well, and the floppy drive, maybe the hard drives too. Other than maybe looking a little ugly, shouldn't that work fine?
