How much space does this video cooler take up? I want to get one some time but the next card in line of my video card is right up against it. I don't know if I have room for it.

Okay. Doesn't get more helpful than that. Thanks. But you have more pci-e slots than me so I am going to have to take out my networking card. Unless this takes up a lesser or equal amount of space as the stock heatsink on my card.

You need to leave 2 extra slots open for the cooler. It will physically take up one slot, and then you need a second one below it open so the fan will not starve for air.

Yeah it only takes 2 slots (1 extra), but you'll want to leave as much space as you can to maximize airflow. Can't say enough good about it though, 15 C drop from the stock 6800gt cooler, keep it clean though cooling performance goes way down if dust collects (which it will do).

Wow.. call me ignorant but I didn't know you could buy aftermarket fans for GPU's. If this helps a card run cooler... does that leave a little more room to OC? In any case, that fan looks like a good idea.

:troutslap;

where have you been? 😉

I went from 580/1145 to 600/1150 with my AGP 6600GT after slapping on a VF700Cu...

And it's exactly 11ty billion times less buzzy/annoying than the reference cooler it came with (that allowed it to load at 87'C AFTER i reapplied it with AS5, with teh Zalman it loads at 62'C)...

2 more slots is ideal, but I have one of these on my X1800XT and a X-fi PCI card right below it. My mobo only has 2 PCI slots and one is blocked by the cooler. I can't live without my X-fi.

The card runs at 49-52 idle, and up to 80C full load. I could get better temps if I cared to get an external sound card, but I refuse.

In other words, you can do it, it just runs hotter.
