Just got my Zalman yesterday. Installed it this morning on my XFX 6600GT (the new style with the silver HSF). There are a couple of big issues I think people should know before purchasing the VF700.
First, the RAM heatsinks CANNOT be used in conjunction with the HSF. The HSF will not fit over the 4 RAM heatsinks! I didn't have the RAM heatsinks on the stock card so I just didn't install them for the VF700 either.
Second, the orientation of the VF700 is 45 degrees off the orientation of the GPU. The copper base of the VF700 is large enough to cover the GPU anyway, however, so I went ahead with the installation.
I neglected to check the temp of the 6600GT before I replaced the HSF. Sorry! At any rate, my current temp shows 54C. This is in idle silent mode.
If I'd known about the couple of issues would I have bought the VF700? Hard to say. I definitely like the quietness. If I knew that Zalman was going to come out with something more suited to the new XFX 6600GT, I probably would have waited. But I have not heard anything about that so as of right now I'd say I'm a (barely) satisfied customer. I will probably contact Zalman about these issues nevertheless.
