I've got a Tyan Tachyon 9800Pro.
I may be doing a major upgrade soon, so i'd prefer not to purchase another card at the moment.
What would be my best bet for keeping this thing cool for 6 more months or so?
It MUST be easy to install & cheap would be nice too...remember, i'm saving up for a MB/CPU/Ram/Video upgrade. I want it to be efficient & good quality, tho.
I don't do alot of gaming right now.
If I can get something that'll work on future video cards, that'll be nice too.
Ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

vf-700 would be more than enough for the 9800 pro however if your thinking you may want to put it on the new card when you get it you'd be better of getting the vf-900.

cheapest solutions? evercool / thermaltake HSF

quietest solutions? AC Silencer (with applicable revision for 9800 PRO)

best solution looking to future? VF700/VF900 (because they have very universal mountings for many cards and new ones, run very well also)

Regrettably, none of the aftermarket coolers are what I would consider "cheap" in relation to the value of a 9800Pro. That being said, the VF900 would be a good bet for your needs because it is probably more futureproof than most. The install is easy, just make sure that your RAM is CLEAN before you apply the RAM sinks or they will not stick.

With the current video cards on the market & the ones in the future, are aftermarket gpu coolers going to be a necessity?
Since there's only $4 difference (at the moment) between the VF700 & the VF900, I guess that's going to be a no-brainer, yes?
