Zalman Sale CPU\GPU\HD coolers

Has anyone ever used a hard drive cooler? I have never had a problem that I know of with my hard drive. I have had problems with the CPU getting to hot.

Try grommet-mounting or suspending the HDD 🙂. HDDs do a decent job of cooling off through the case itself. Alternative mounting methods may not affect this too much, but the drive will definitely run hotter. If you have stagnant (convection-cooling only) air, it will be worse.

HDDs don't need much cooling, but they do need some. With good case contact and a few CFM, they're fine. The Zalman cooler also adds mass and dampends vibration.

How is the

"Zalman USA CNPS3100+ Copper Cpu Cooler Socket A" for $18.99?

I have a Artic Cooling CS-2L piece of GARBAGE that I paid $18.99 for. Would the Zalman be a good upgrade for a Barton? There is no image, but is it a heatsink + fan unit??

Which one is considered better?

CNPS7000-Cu Socket 478, 939, 754 $29.44 Shipped
or
CNPS7700-AlCu Socket 478, 939, 754 $36.09 Shipped

According to the FrostyTech review, the CNPS3100 got a 94% and seems to be awesome. Where does it say that it isn't any good?

25C above ambient with the 50w. The newer cooler like it does better than that, as will practically anything but retail HS/F (and some of those might be better, now). It's not bad, but it's not that good, either. Athlon XPs should have little trouble breaking 50w (original 1800+ 66w stock, thuroughbred 51w stock), especially being overclocked.

I use it.. if it fits you really can't do any better.. As a plus if you have a low profile case, the heatsink itself is probably the best passive heatsink you can find.

i have one of those hard drive coolers. It mounts in to a 5 1/4 bay. and it suspends the hd on rubber grommets, so vibration isolation is very good. abt the cooling itself. I find that the heat pipies on top of the cooler getting quite warm in my HTPC case. So i guessing its working as it should. Its definatley bulky though.. will add weight to your case.

The 7700-AlCu will cool better. SilentPCReview compared the two in their CNPS7700-AlCu review.
