I installed a Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu on my 2.8Ghz / 533 cpu on an Abit IC7

For those of u who are familiar w/ the hsf, the 2 supporting clips need to be lodged inside the clip mounts. well, when i was installing them, one of the clips didnt even get into the clip mount!

w/o realizing this, i turned on the computer and happily ran ran prime95 + memtest for over 8 hours! winbond showed my temp hovering around 58 C.

all this with the heatsink making partial contact with the cpu!

now that i've fixed it and running the same test again, the temp is ~53 C

One of the :beer:s tonite is gonna toast Zalman (mentally, of course :D ... dont want my buds wondering who "Zalman" is)

I had a similar experience putting an SK7 on my brother's XP. I didn't slide it back away from the plastic step part of the socket and it didn't make full contact. I saw 75C in bios and quickly turned it off! :Q
