Zalman has released a new product recently, the CNPS9500 AM2. It's the only Zalman I can find right now that is compatible with AM2.

My beef with it is its green LED. The case I'll be using for my new computer has blue LEDs abound. Should I wait until Zalman (or another brand) releases an AM2 fan with blue LEDs? At the least, I could suffice with the stock cooler until one to my liking comes out.

I probably wouldn't be comfortable doing it, but the thought of changing the LED bulb crossed my mind. Anyone has experience doing that?

from the pics, it looks like the leds might actually be in the motor, but im not totally sure. There have been mods where people totally replace the fan, so that might be an option as well.

I personally like the green look. A green and blue setup looks pretty good (i used to have this color scheme).

I wonder whether using a blue marker on the LED bulbs might work?

If the LEDs are in between the motor and the fan, then I doubt one will be able to reach them in the first place...

Unfortunately, it isn't compatible with AM2.

EDIT: Although, I might consider buying that one as well, just to swap fans. :D

The fans are the same except for the color AFAIK - if you got the money buy both and swap the fans. Some use would come up for that other 9500 sometime, or you could resell it to someone who has s939 and wants one with green ;)

Hehe, reselling isn't a bad option. The other 9500 can be used on LGA775 too, so it's very marketable.:)

Besides the fan isn't the main difference between them just the mounting hardware?

If that?s the case maybe Zalman would just sell you the AM2 mounting hardware separately?

Maybe. How would I go about requesting that? I doubt that they would sell it separately because one guy wants it.

Just a follow up, I contacted Zalman, here's their response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We would like to first thank you for your interest in our CNPS9500 series.

The CNPS9500 AM2 is only provided with green LEDs and the CNPS9500 LED is only provided with blue LEDs. ZALMAN will not be making customized CNPS9500s (providing CNPS9500 AM2 with blue LED or providing CNPS9500 LED and such).

However, ZALMAN has recently come to the decision of providing AM2-compatible mounting hardware for the CNPS9500 LED. So once the AM2-compatible mounting hardware is released for sale, you can purcahse the AM2-compatible mounting hardware and the CNPS9500 LED and mount it on your AM2 socket.

However, the date of release has not been finalized, and we are yet unsure when they will be made available in the United States.

Please stay tuned for upcoming events and decisions.

Best Regards,

Support/ZALMAN

Sounds awesome, now I just gotta wait. :)

Lol, I dont know why they didnt just start doing this in the first place. The "mounting hardware" Is literally a metal clip about 3 inches long. All of the CNPS9500's are identical, and their socket comptibility is simply based on what clips they throw in the box.

That being said, I want an AM2 CNPS9500, because I like the green and silver more than blue + copper, but I uses 939, and its not worth buying a new HS to change colors.
