Zalman CNPS7000a-cl w/ Epox 8rda+??

I got a zalman socket A cooler from newegg today, and when i finally fit it into place ( i had to cut off a clip from it so it could fit right) the computer will turn on then off 15 seconds later. It's on damn well and i put thermal grease on it, yet nothing. I put it another heatsink and it works just fine...It says on the instructions that some computers dont allow fans to go as low as 1300rpm so they shut down, but i cranked it up as fast as possible yet nothing, still just shuts off 5-15 seconds after i turn it on....

Can you disable the setting on the mobo that shuts it down when the rpms get too low?

i looked around in bios and couldnt find it, so confused

Doesn't look like your mobo has a setting for CPU fan RPM cutoff.

nope it doesnt, but the zalman site says its compatible with the fan...

Have you tried a different HSF?

Is the Zalman you have one of those circular ones? I have one like that I also had to grind off part of a clip to make it fit. I also had to grind off part of the case frame, too, because it extended past the edge of the mobo.

yeah, its the circular ones, i grinded off the clip for it to work and it fit. It tried another HSF and it works with that one
