Zalman 9700LED only has 3-pin cpu fan connector?

So I just installed my new Zalman 9700LED for my Intel 2 Q9450. And I looked at the fan power connector it's a 3-pin instead of the 4-pin . And the motherboard has the CPU Fan connector as 4-pin so I hooked up the Zlaman to one of the other 3-pin connecotr on the board I think it's suppose for the case fan or power fan . Is that normal? or it's gonna damage my system? Anyone else having this problem with the Zalman 9700 cooler?

What do u mean connec to the motherboard header? what header ? And what do u mean 3 of the 4 pins aligne with the clip? what clip

The 3pin fan connector will work on the 4 pin connector the motherboard has for the CPU cooler. It should only connect in one way and fit to one side leaving the 4th pin unused. That 4th pin is used to throttle fan speeds on compatible fans.

If you need help locating the CPU fan hearder, check the manual. It will have a diagram of the motherboard and it's components. The CPU fan header will be labeled "CPU" or something to that effect.

In short,a 3-pin fan will work with a 4-pin header, and a 4-pin fan will USUALLY work with a 3-pin header. the CPU fan should be labeled something like CPU_Fan or CPU_Header or something, read the manual.
