Is it possible to fit a zalman 7000CU on an athlon 2100XP+ in an asus a7n266e?
Are there any devices that allow you to attach that heatsink?
Any and all help is appreciated. thank you.

I can't remember if the 7000Cu comes with the three pin hooky thing or not. If it doesn't, you'll need the four mounting holes around the socket. Note: Not all socket a boards have them.

Need a bit more help with this issue, Bbbumpiedy bump

there are 4 mounting holes around the socket on the a7n266e, 2 on either side that are spaced out close to the corners. I do realize that the 7000CU isn't supposed to support athlon XP's, but if there's an adapter that can be purchased or a way to make this work, it'd be most appreciated.

There should be two 1.5 - 2 inch (approximately) brackets (look like bent arms with holes on either side) that came with it. You basically secure those to the board and then mount the heatsink on them. Take a look at Zalman's website - they have little install videos you can watch.

yes you made the wrong purchace

you need the 7000A or B version.

i do have a 7000A and i use an A64 so i have the mounting hardware if you want them. all i ask of you is to send me your bracket, as i have modified mine to fit on socketA boards. some boards require you to cut off part of the bracket due to capacitors in the way (the epox 8RDA+ and asus A7N8X are a few on the long list).

shoot me a pm if you are interested

OT: I'd be scared to install a 7000-Cu on a Athlon XP. AMD's set maximum weight for a heatsink/fan for XPs is 300G & that Zalman is more than twice that.
