The difference seems to be that the A verison uses the Fan Mate 1 and the B version uses the Fan Mate 2. But what's that all about? Is one version discontinued? Thanks.

I have both version. A for P4 478, B for A64 939. The HSF itself is pretty much identical. B versions comes with more mounting hardware and a back plate (which i needed to use on my 939 mobo). I think the B version just extends the socket compatibility by adding more mounting hardware. (A version does not state it's compatible with socket 939)

I have the A version. It's pretty nice (looks good) and is quiet, but the cooling is only about on par with other HS/F IMO.

But it's not a performance fan, it's a quiet fan, which it does a decent job at!
