Zalman 7000: is low pressure between HSF and CPU a problem?!

Hi,

In this review http://www.lostcircuits.com/advice/zalman_cnps7000/7.shtml they mention that the Zalman 7000 has low pressure between the HSF and the CPU. I also read somewhere that this cooler has a low retension mechanism pressure. What exactly do they mean by that?

Is this a problem, to which problems could this possibly lead, like could the HSF fall off or something?!..

Does the Zalman 6500B-AlCu have the same problem, as I am still doubting between the 6500 or 7000?! I would take an AlCu model!

Thanks in advance!

Mike.

I have the 6000, and I have never heard anything about the clip being loose. What I have heard is that the clip (retention mechanism) is not big enough to comfortably support the HS, which is damn heavy, but this is only an issue if you move your system around alot (it COULD fall off). But, really, I've had it on my Athlon XP for 4 months now (all copper, btw), and nothing has happened. Essentially, if it wasn't safe, it wouldn't be on the market, as Zalman is a respected company.

The have a newer review on the composite AlCu Zalman 7000 on their website, they said that one they had fitted like a vise, so they concluded that the loose HSF with the Cu they had was a 1-time problem.

This could be true that there's not enough pressure b/w the hs and the cpu. My idle temp is 44C-46C, and under load is 53C-60C. About 10C hotter than my older Alpha 9042. I wish I kept the alpha.
Maybe it's the motherboard, Asus P4PE.
