Z77-DS3H RAID help needed

I just installed a SSD(AHCI) on my Z77-DS3H MB, Windows 10 is installed on the SSD, it is up and running.

I now want to install 2 1TB Barracuda HDD as RAID 1.

Installed the 2 drives, booted into the BIOS, it appears as tho I can't change the ports for just those 2 drives into RAID, if I enable RAID in the BIOS my system wont boot as it says it cant now find the SSD.

Does the BIOS only allow me to set the SATA mode selection to AHCI or RAID for all the ports to be the same?

Anyone have any help?

Have you looked in the manual? It tells you how to set it up (starting on page 74 of the manual available on the Gigabyte website).

From what I recall back in my RAID using days, it's set per controller, not per port. So if all the ports are on the same controller, you would indeed set it for everything.

That said, what you would want to do in your case is set the controller to RAID, and simply not add the SSD to the RAID pool and it should work fine as an individual drive.

Because you already installed Windows, you will probably have to do a re-install unless you can find a tutorial or something online that will give you info on how to convert it through registry edits or similar.
