ASRock Z77 Professional looks niiiice, 12 USB ports on the IO panel with 6 being 3.0? I think I found my new board.

I purchased the successor of the Asrock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3, the Z77 Extreme 4 😀

Good question! I'm wondering this too but not much in real world appications I'm thinking.
Absolutely, IB is going to support it. I, personally, got a Crucial kit of 1866 RAM. Low latencies FTW 🙂

Difference isn't as night and day, though.

Grabbed the gigabyte UD5H after doing some research and having more than good experiences with gigabyte in the past.

Are they finally UEFI? That tempered my enthusiasm for them in the last year, despite their normally being pretty solid.

Windows 8 + UEFI looks like a compelling combination for the near future.

Yes they are finally UEFI! I am excited now too because I can finally start recommending them more.

The UD5H looks to be solid and was in my Z77 final three list.

I've been a Gigabyte fan since about 2006 but the mysterious boot loops from previous boards scared me off enough in the back of my head. I decided to go with ASRock this time around but I believe the UD5H will be an awesome motherboard.

I ended up ordering the Samsung DDR3 ram. Apparently it is 30 nm process, and while only rated at DDR3-1600 it easily overclocks beyond DDR3-2000. That ram seems like the best option for any scenario - cheep, low power, cool, low profile, and huge overclocking headroom.

Yeah I have seen my gigabyte reboot itself a few times when restarting but then it works fine. Also, I put together the parts for my friend's 2500k system and he bought a cheap z67 gigabyte board and I found the LLC was really bad for overclocking and definitely limited the overclock I ended up with (4.5 ghz at about 1.36v), but it seems the new Z77 gigabyte boards are very good and have really solid LLC which is something I look for. What has impressed me most with gigabyte is my current UD3R P45 which has done 500 fsb for over 3 years (a lot of boards back then wouldn't dream of 500 fsb).

They definitely went with UEFI. Here's a review on the UD3H and you can see UEFI on page 7:

Very nice! Thanks guys 🙂

So, that means that I'll skip picking up another Z68 board then and head into the wonderful and magical land of pre-boot environments w/mouse support! 😛

Pretty much 100% the same here. I never experienced the boot loops but the Gigabyte board I have seems to have very poor voltage regulation and tends to "forget" settings from time to time.

With Gigabyte UD5 or Asus P8Z77-V Pro for me, haven't decided if the price premium on the Asus is worth it for essentially the same feature set (but possibly better fan control which does matter to me). Never used a GB board before.

Biostar has just lost more respect in my eyes. I wanted to play with the Lucid MVP today and the bios doesn't have the right settings to enable it. I cannot be more dissapointed with this board.
