Thanks for this thread. I'm in a similar situation.

Probably going i5 2500k, 8gb 1333mhz ram and moving everything else from my old system. Requirements? Any board would have enough of the basics like USB 2/3 and enough old/new sata Ports for old drives and potential SSDs.

I'd be using the stock heatsink for the foreseeable future but overclocking would be a long term priority. IB compatibility would be nice but i'm not sure there is a guarantee of that.

I've been weighing up two Gigabyte boards from the UK but as i'm on my phone, I can't provide links. One is £75 and the other is £100 with the main differences appearing to be Lucid Virtu and x8/x8 Crossfire pci e slots as opposed to x16/x1.

There is a lot to consider these days but I think that the cheaper board is more suitable for me, if I went the 2500k route. Still temped to wait for Bulldozer to see if it's better or at least prices change.
