I previously had a z680, and have been using the digital optical out port, as shown in the picture below! this is the picture of a logitech z680 control pod.

I upgraded to z5500, and as you can see in the new picture, they have changed the digital optical port, how is it different, and how do i use it? below is the picture of the z5500 control pod!

I'm glad you guys on these forums dont demean people and what not 😛

but yes it is a simple plug after you pull it out it will look the same 😛

Ok now another problem. I have no 5.1 surround sound ( no sound from any speakers) on x360 when playing games or watching movies. Oddly though, when i start the 360, i can hear the 360 startup sound in 5.1 mode.

I connected my 5.1 speakers to the x360 through an optical cable. i can see the red light in the optical cable going through so no problem there. I even changed system settings inside the 360 to dolby 5.1.

I also switched the physical settings on my z5500 to (6ch mode) and changed the settings to optical. its funny that i can hear the MS startup sound in 5.1 mode.

Although if i use analog, i get sound. what might i be doing wrong, or should i go to xbox live and update my 360!

6 channel is the analog setting for the z-5500s I think. That's not the setting you'd want it to be on.

What are the possible settings for the z-5500s?

i made a new topic for this, but anyways,

6ch is standard in z5500 for surround sound mode, the only other setting is 2.1 for stereo!
