So.... I've decided to get a Z06 when they're released, but I can't decide if I want the Z07 package or not. That's really going to up the maintenance, and I'd also have to buy a set of street tires and wheels from the get go because the sport cup tires, while streetable, will not last.

Tough decision. Ugh.

What is in the Z07 package besides the carbon ceramic brakes, sport cups, and aero?

Viper GTS

Not sure yet! I think it is a bit lower, which may pose a problem for me.

Right now, I drive my c7 I would say 60-70% of the time.

Practicality (and the wallet for the consumables costs) says don't get Z07.

Wasn't that the main reason you got rid of the Shelby?

Ceramics last a long ass time do they not?

I would think the z07 will hold value better but yeah, dropping 3-5k on wheels and tires right away and budgeting for the brakes would be a good hit.

Is it just the tires you're worried about? You could probably pull off the cups and put on some super sports or whatever your preference is. Probably sell the cups without too much trouble.

I'm not sure I'd want to part with the factory wheels on a car like that, were you buying new wheels to sell the old or just keep the OEM unmarred?

Lower with more aggressive front Aero could be a problem. I have to test run new destinations in the Forester to avoid smashing up my front fascia and I'd imagine a z07 is lower than the stock ride height I'm dealing with. If those are the consumables you are referring to then I can relate.

I got rid of the Shelby because it was such a hassle to drive and I wanted better handling.

I'd want to use the track tires on the track, but I'd want a street set as well. The CC brakes can last a long time, but you can still burn through them pretty easily at track days per the ZR-1 guys.

Can you get the carbon brakes on the Z06 as an option? Fir me that's the only interesting bit in the package, the remainder is just faff. Unless you plan to track the thing anyway, in which case you might as well take the hit for extra wheels and tires right away, if the ride and clearance aren't dealbrakers.
