i have to laugh about the vette being "good value."

every seen the prices on a 10 or 15 year old vette? they are barely worth more than a honda accord of the same vintage. basically the car will lose all value over time, whereas a ferrari will dip a bit (good luck getting even the crappiest ferrari for less than $30K), but if kept in really condition, will increase again eventually. and in the meantime you get to own a FERRARI, instead of a Chevy. and yeah, some of the very first corvettes have kept some value, but i don't think anyone will look back at any corvette made past the early 70's as a "classic."

edit: a 1991 Corvette in good condition is worth a whopping $3K more than my 1991 Honda Accord with 207K miles on the clock.

The Z06 is an amazing car. As a daily driver though, the 911 really is the best of the bunch.

and yet in order to get into the market of sports cars, the vette is that much better, because it doesn't require you to put up your house as collateral should you decide to buy the vehicle :p

the vette's no exotic, but as far as performance goes, it's a supercar in a class of its own

I'm looking at Edmunds and seeing these cars in a 25 mile radius selling for:
  • 1990 - 1993 Honda Accord
    $3,999 Highest price
    $1,000 Lowest price
    $2,472 Average price

    1990-1993 Corvette

    $33,500 Highest price
    $8,000 Lowest price
    $14,670 Average price
Reality strikes again!

Z06 is designed for the track....of course it wins! I love the z06 but as a car to drive around the streets...who am I kidding I'd still pick the z06.

I dont think this z06 has the same ride quality as the old one...much rougher...nearly every publication comments on the painful ride on streets. GM should have made a damper control system like porsche.

I personally like the German cars more can you tell.

EDIT: The smart person takes the F430 sells it and buys the Vet and Porsche

You know nothing about cars, let alone the Vette do you. Look how much they sell for even 10years later. They hold their value very well. I should know, I specialized in Corvette/F-body engines when I first became a mechanic (L98 motor) and have a 2001 Corvette in the garage right now that just broke 40k and has only needed oil changes, 1 set of tires, and I replaced the front brakes to ceramic to get rid of the black dust on the wheels. Nothing else. But yea you just know they will not hold up.

True, my parents own two 98 vettes and they have actually gone up in value from what they paid. If you don't bother to take good care of them then of course they will decrease in value. Also the LS1 engine itself is extremely durable, I would expect the same with the LS7.

The 911 turbo is the ultimate car out of the bunch you can have as a DAILY DRIVER hands down.

Take an Aston Martin , Ferrari, Lambo, whatever, it won't fit a person as a daily driver.

The 911 rocks, it's like Clark Kent, something you can drive to work and something you can take to the track afterwords.

Thats what do great about it.

The Cayman chassis is also AMAZING from what everyone says.

Challenge Stradale FTW

I'd take the Z06 out of those because I can take it to a track and now worry about it. :D

hey, lets look at something.

a Ferraris maint schedule is about every 3000 miles, you have to have everything done.
a vette's is a normal vehicle schedule, 3-5k oil, 60k, etc.

a vette has simple parts, OHV engine, dead realiable 6 spd tranny, etc.

i guarantee a Ferrari and a vette, driven the same days, same roads, same conditions, following the same service schedule, the Vette will outlast the Ferrari.

o yea, as a DD its 911 all the way
as a track car its the Z06
as a sit in my garage car its the Ferrari.

The ferrari is just a different kind of car then the vette.. so is the porsche but its much closer to the vette then it is to the ferrari.

Price/reliability/practicality not an issue.. just fun and how id feel in one.. id want the porsche i think. Id like to drive all 3 first however...

yea in the article they commented on the loose panels of the z06 when going fast...hood was moving and stuff

And people wonder why it's so cheap. It's still a Chevy, and it shows... Big time.

its funny, how your name is cobalt (chevy cobalt) and you are dissing chevy ;)
