ok, so i'm using my onboard audio of my Aopen AK89 MAX to run the audio feed to my beloved Z-680s. I orginally was using the optical connection but whenever i plugged in my headpones via the headphone jack on the control pod, there was barely audible sound coming from my headpones, when i turned the volume to max, on both the control pod and windows, then i can hear normal volume sound that is INCREDIBLY distorted. I thought it was a faulty control pod as many ppl have reported problems with the control pod so i called logitech tech support and they RMA's my faulty one. BTW, I don't like Logitech support at all. Not only did I have to pay for return shipping, they wouldn't let me advance RMA the control pod and it took them over a week to send out my replacement pod, so i was stuck with awesome speakers that were rendered useless without a control pod for 12 days. oh the agony, but thats another beef with logitech. by the time i received my replacement, I figured it would be fine but the same problem occured, I figured I couldn't be that unlucky so i plugged in the analog connections and connected it. the headphone jack worked fine with the analog connection but still is horrible with the optical. any idea why this might be? I now have to alternate between the two sources, analog is really distorted from the speakers if i don't use the headpones but fine with it. and optical is fine without the headphones but distorted with it. I feel like I am the only one experiencing this problem. am I? Thanks!

All I can say i sthat u using your z680 on an onboard sound card?? You gotta kidding me. Man i think your z680 is crying rite now. Lol. My suggestion is that try to get at least an audigy2 board that could unleash the power of z680.

I may very well be wrong here but i thought the audigy doesn't have optical or coaxial connections for the control pod? people were saying using coax or optical gives better sound quality as opposed to analog. I could be way off, i'm not sure.
