z 640's head phone jack not working properly

Last night I put my head phones in the center channel's head phone jack and play CS. This morning I unplugg the head phones to play some music and notice nothing is playing..... So I look through my nforce audio control panel to see if anything is muted or something, and nope nothing wrong in there. I can
't figure out whats wrong, because nforce audio shows that there is music playing in all of the channel's. I try the head phones and THEY work but nothing else when I have the plugged in music comes out of them. What the heck is wrong? with this thing? I'm guess there is something in the head phone jack messing something up but I can't seem to get anything work if this has happend to anyone else please give me tips or something this is REALLY annoying !!!

Try cleaning your headphone plug and re-inserting and removing, cleaning it a few times. My understanding of the way the z640s operate (if you plug in headphones, the volume control comes from the computer and the speakers shut off) suggests that, when plugged in, the headphones are wired directly to the front stereo input. If they fail to detect the removal of the headphone plug, maybe something internal is gummed up. Of course, the other possibility is that something was barely soldered in place and you finally broke it when inserting the jack - in which case, I suggest you buy another set now and RMA your old set.... sell one.
 
I'll try cleaning it, I hope it helps. I think you are right about how the head phone jack works. I am saving money for a few things now and a new set of speakers would be the least of my worries going into my 3rd year of college. We'll see though I contacted Logitech hopefully I can fix this. Thankd for the help.
 
I messed with this damn thing long enough its probably busted grr its probably just some little TINY piece of metal making contact..... cutting off the signal. logitech better be quick if I do decide to RMA this thing.
