be careful. it might be me but i burnt 2 control pods using coaxial cable to my SB Audigy 2 ZS's digital output.

both times i <ahem> *replaced* the control units at compusa so i dont have to go RMA with logitech. but now its been fine for a month on this latest unit

other than that. this sounds great, i live in an apartment building and im scared to pump it up too much :p old people live around me

Hmm.... and I just got my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's a couple months ago. Would it be worth upgrading so soon?

I have the next set down and my much younger neighbor comes over and asks me to turn it down. Kind of funny I thought they say if "if it is too loud, your to old!" He is almost 20 years yonger than me and has long hair. Kind of funny guess you could call it role reversal. I really like mine. I was expecting typical boom - treble sound. I find these very well balenced. They have really done there homework designing these. They do crank, and the base tends to be heavy but I have gotten rid of my floor stading speakers and reciever for now, as these do it for me. They are not going to beat a $5,000 set of speakers but for what they cost they are great.

Who ever needs speakers get these. They are awesome plus it has nice connectors in back. I'm running by directv from them and it blows. Just finished playing doom 3 off them and well lets just say i had to close my windows because i had some neighbors around my windows trying to figure out what the hell I'm doing here he he.

I just bought these, the sub is huge and loud - it's awesome!! :)

My only problem is the my left front speaker has static (even when my computer is turned off)

It might be defective because I also can bearly hear sound from it.

Anyone have similar problems like this?

Oh well, it should be no problem to exchange for a new one from Dell. Just a hassel. :(

These speakers are absolutely awesome. I am almost tempted to go ahead and upgrade cause I have the older version of these. My neighbors get worried when I play games cause the walls vibrate.

If you want some serious sound and bass then forget everything else you have heard. These speakers wont knock out any home entertainment systems from a quality vendor but for a pc they are the pinnacle.

I am tempted to get these to upgrade from my Z560s which I have been extremely pleased with over the years.

Nice price...I might just go for that since Dell's price is higher now (and Dell being in Texas nails me on sales tax anyway). How is the warranty on those though?

Edit: Hmmm...I don't see the 5500's on JustDeals, only the 5300's....

OMG I want these so bad to replace my Z560's (I am never going to get rid of my 560's just they will go in the bedroom). Everything I have ever read on these is nothing but sweet goodness and the fact you can hook 6 digital things clich it for me to not only buy one for my computer but a few for home theater set ups. So what if you dont have a tuner what you get is a cheap but load as all hell matching THX hometheater set up that cannot be touched for Sound or price if you tried to buy a reciever and speakers seperatly.
LOGITECH RULES!!!!

Logitech does sell 2.1 version that sound great. Try the logitech Z-3. i own some and i love them.
BUT....
JUST ORDERED ME SOME. i have the Logitech Z-3 right now. My sis needed some new speakers and she like mine so give me a good excuse to get me new speakers. the retail on these are 399.99 at logitech.com. 260.00shipped is great.

Theres a 50 dollar rebate on the 5300's from logitech, I can't justify the extra 140 dollars for the digital input. Very similar speakers except for that. I got the 5300's from newegg and a 50 dollar rebate coupon printed out so they come to about 100 dollars total. I don't mean to thread crap, just making people aware of this for the decision. I have the older 4 speaker w/sub versions of these I got refurbished that have been fantastic for a year, but want the 5.1 for my video games and videos that support it.

I could look at those too, but then again, I'm getting a new set of X-530's from Logitech next week (warranty replacement since my Z-640's sub died)....so I may just end up sitting on those for a while until I can afford to go all out on speakers or something :p

Edit: $100 AR is definitely a good price on the 5300e's though

If I might add...

From my experience Logitech has THE BEST customer service of any company, EVER!
:D
I won a set of Z-680s at the NewEgg LANFest BF1942 tourney last year and I started to have problems with the speakers this year (burning smell, buzzing). I called customer service, explained the issue and they said that the Z-680s were now discontinued.
However, they said that they would ship out a brand new set of Z-5500s in 2 months (as they were backordered). Plus, I did not have to send back my Z-680s!!!!

IMO, the best customer support and warrenty around. 2 years on the speakers!

Yep, their warranty/customer service is awesome. :)

Last year my mouse (in my MX Duo) died, didn't want to charge or work anymore...they sent me a complete new MX Duo set. Just this past week, as I'd posted in here, my Z-640's sub died, so they're sending me a new set of X-530's right now. :D

The only thing is, I can't decide if I want to sit on the X-530's, or spend $$$$$ to get the Z-5500's or something ;)
