Z-2300 Speakers 200W RMS THX 2.1 System

Hot since it's under $100 shipped, but the z-2200s sound better imo. Sub is bigger on the z-2300s but the satellites on the z-2200s have better quality (at least to my ears).

agreed. the shipping kills it for me too. I already have a pair but I could use another pair for my dauughter's desktop.
Paid $50 shipped (AR) from buy.com a while back ago.

I got a similar deal from Amazon awhile back...the speakers sound great and I have the power if I really want to crank them!

shipping cost ruins the deal. $150 is the retail price, who in here pays retail price???
Amazon has this price in the past, but after $30 rebate with free shipping.

$29 shipping isn't all that bad when you consider these puppies weigh 40 lbs.

I also got in on the Amazon deal. They were well worth the $60-70 I paid.

these not infrequently go on sale at either Amazon or Buy.com for less after rebate. I agree that for some strange reason my z-2300 doesn't sound as good/full as my two pairs of z-2200 even though 2300 is supposedly an improved version of 2200.

All the reviews I read said the 2200s are better. This is definitely a hot deal. $29 shipping is fine. The box is fvcking heavy.

The speakers are pretty good, but it lacks in midrange. Some songs i play just sound like crap. The bass is definitely awesome with such a powerful sub though.

Excellent solution for when you want to share the sound experience for others and have only $100 to spend - oh wait, the Sennheiser fails at both...

I don't recall seeing "sharing with others" a priority, nor do I recall seeing a "$100 max budget" posted anywhere in this thread. FWIW HD555's can be found for $90-110 if you look carefully. It appears that you are the one who has failed. 😛

The point is that someone reading this threda is probably looking for speakers, not headphones, and is attracted to the price in the title, not more.

The Z-2300s are excellent speakers. What's really fun is cranking them up and playing the THX theme... really goes over well with the roomates.

If you think the Z-2300 are excellent speakers you need to have your ears checked. The overemphasized bass and lack of midrange makes you wonder how they earned a THX seal of approval. Obviously it wasn't earned with their sound characteristics......

To each his own though.

May be you're the one that needs to have your ears checked. Z2300 is easily the best sounding speakers for the $$

I realize that since you own the Z-2300's you feel the need to defend them. I know your meant to put >$100, but even then you can buy used Promedia 2.1's that sound better than the Z-2300's. Nice try though. 🙂

Why the f*** else would you want speakers? Other than the fact that you're free from cords and batteries I guess...and you and your friends can enjoy the room shaking boom this set can give you for the price you pay.

HELLO, HOT DEALS THREAD. If the set of speakers comes under $100, your alternative had better come under $100 on average, or at least provide the link where it does so we don't have to waste time following your ever so helpful advice of getting something the OP and people in this thread might have never wanted in the first place.

Good thing that you can come up with a link to your own suggestion. I'm not supposed to help you win your side of the debate. I did a quick search and all the reputable retailers failed to come up with a price to rival this set of speakers so I gave up because I didn?t want to waste time for your sake.

If you're so smart and "l33t" as you're trying to come across as, you'd be able to figure out this thread has no need for your presence.

Budget high power speakers and entry level audiophile studio headphones don?t exactly have much in common other than they're at the lower end of their own respective niches.

Offer it as an alternative with a heads-up suggestion "hey, you might be interested in this instead?, as opposed to "you're a f***ing noob unless you do this."

I can't wait for the next laptop deal to come around and for John to start touting how a desktop system for twice as much is a much better deal.

bad deal. bad speakers. no mids, squeaky highs. only boomy bass that sounds like a hammer hitting the sub.
spend a lil more on klipsche

No need to get your panties in a wad sweetheart. The OP clearly asks "hot or not" therefore I chimed in with my .02 cents. In addition to some quality cans I also recommended an alternative 2.1 speaker set. Have you even listened to the Z-2300's? You and the others are free to disagree all you want, just like I am entitled to post my own opinions. My suggestions also fall within the infamous $100 budget and IMHO are superior in every way to the Logicrap speakers. It's not like I came in recommending Swans & a SVS sub or some HD650's and a tube amp.

saymyname, you response reminds me of something that astrocase would say.
