Yuengling Traditional Lager substitute?

Jeff7181

Lifer
My brother got me hooked on this stuff while I was visiting him in Philly... I can't get it here in Michigan... so I'm wondering, does anyone know of a beer that tastes similar to Yuengling Traditional Lager? That stuff is great and I'm going through withdrawls drinking MGD and Molsen Ice 🙁

Yuengling is my favorite beer. when I was out west in Colorado, I drank "Fat Tire" to hold me over. Don't know if you can get it in Michigan tho.

I know I can't get it here, that's why I'm asking. =) PA is the closest state that has it, and it's a long drive from here... I usually bring 2-3 cases back whenever I'm there visiting my brother... but I wish I could find something locally so I could drink myself into a stupor and enjoy the taste =)

I live in Pottsville, PA, home of Yuengling. While Yuengling Lager is my brew of choice (good AND cheap) Sam Adams is very good as well. You should be able to get Sam Adams. Yuengling is expanding markets, but hasn't worked too far west. Mostly up and down the east coast. Linkified

I was talking about Fat Tire. I know you can't get Yuengling there.

Nah Sam Adams is a totally different taste. I personally don't like Sam Adams Beer, well the original recipe that is. The seasonal ones are much better. but they're even harder to find.

You don't know how lucky you are... can you smell the beer in the air? =)

Actually, yes. I am equidistant between the original brewery and the new facility in Port Carbon/St. Clair. On warm summer evenings you can smell the brew. (Or maybe it's just wishful thinking.....) People around here have mixed feelings about the beer. Most buy it because it's cheap and everywhere. I actually have tried many beers and I think it is an excellent beer. It's even better on draught.

So, what does this nectar of the gods taste like?

Carbonated heaven? LOL... j/k... it's not THAT spectacular... but it's better than any brew I've had before.

*EDIT* I'm not a beer fanatic, so I'm not sure how you'd describe it... tastes kinda sweet too me, doesn't leave an aftertaste either.

I want to go to a place that serves Yuengling

I have a cold one right here. Matter of fact, there are 20 of it's buddies in the fridge behind me. 😀

Make that 19... It does fill you up though. I also like the Black & Tan, but I get to drunk from that too quick... When we had our daughter's Christening party, I got a half of lager and kept it in the fridge near my comp. Got drunk too many nights in a row and slept in the basement with my precious beer and computer....

One thing I noticed about Yuengling is that I never had a hangover afterwards. My brother, one of his friends, and me drank 2 cases in one night... so I probably had, oh... about 15-20 during the course of the whole night... which lasted from about 6 PM to 3 AM. Wasn't hung over the next day, just had a serious case of cotton mouth =)

Hangovers are caused by the alcohol in whatever you are drinking. I've gotten hangovers from Yueng, and really bad gastro-intestinal difficulties the next day, but I usually take two Aleve and a few glasses of water before going to sleep to soften the impact. 18 left in the fridge and it's my last for the evening. This one's for your Jeff!

If it's for me, fork it over!

Yuengling is the oldest brewery in the US I believe. You will be hard up to find something as good.

It is the oldest continously operating brewery in the US. Increasing market share as I pop open another -
