Yu Gi Oh translates into 6 2 5 in Korean. 6/25 is the day that the Korean war began, which turned out to be a major embarassment to South Korea. Given that Korea and Japan have a history of hating each other (Japan being there for a few hundred years on and off, squelching Korean language and culture), is it safe to say that Yu Gi Oh has racial undertones? And I'm sure that there are some other allusions in the character names and settings but I don't know enough history or watch the show enough to notice them.

You're reading too much into it. I bet you're one of those that screams racism if a white guy sneezes while walking past a black guy.

I'm Korean. Eel = 1 E = 2 Saam = 3 Sah = 4 Oh = 5 Yook = 6

Gi does not equal two therefore that throws this out the window.

Are you talking about 625(Korean War) as it is or is it some sort of anime or anything like that? I don't really understand what you're talking about.
What makes you think 625 was an major embarassment for S. Korean? Becuase S. Korea was attacked without any prior warnings? If so, are you embasrassed about 911?(Following your logic that those who gets attacked out of the blue must be embarassed.)

Japan occupied S.Korea only for 35 years, not some hundred years.
Also, how do you relate 625 to Japan? It's not like it was a war between Korean and Japan. It was a war between N. Korea and S. Korea.

err, no it's not smart to translate one language into another by their sound... the literal translation is King of Games. Read the Chinese words. That should give you clear indication what it means.

Interesting way to twist the meaning. The pictures aren't really dissing the Japanese just because we hate them, the pictures are insulting the Japanese because the Japanese were trying to take away an island that was rightfully Korean territory. Dok Do island..

Edit- Author Explained it, but still. I'm living in America and know the story behind the island. Propaganda still really runs high over there .. I thought we had gotten past this.

That still doesn't make it racism but that is all people know how to cry these days when they don't like something. Makes most of you look really silly and quite stupid actually.

I had no idea about any dispute involving an island being being behind the pictures? I just remember seeing them a while back and googled for them again. I by no means have any personal interest in this issue (I'm indian by birth).

Regardless of the back story, do you think it is right to encourage such feelings in children by giving an public medium them to put out such strong hatred/dislike for another country? IMO, nothing good can come out of it.

Some of you guys are stupid to act like this is truly a joke. Yes maybe he is taking a step too far but you don't have to joke about a serious matter that may be personal to someone. For you because this isn't your country you may not give a rats ass about but this(not this specifically but many other conflict) is an ongoing thing between Korea and Japan that was happening before the Americans even bothered to interfere. This is possibly an assumption and a coincidence but don't make a joke out of something that is not a joke. For some of you that are confused Hana dool seht also means 1 2 3 and there is another way to say it like Il yi sam sa 1 2 3 4 etc.
