I'm so tired.

Day after wedding, we had morning party with people at the house, then her family stayed over until Monday morning.

We had a going away party for the DJ last night (she's moving to DC).

Today I'm back at work.

not trying to be nosy, but how much did the wedding cost? I am planning a wedding and it's almost impossible to stay below 6,000 when you include the reception.

Congrats yoyo!

Gibson - they are not cheap, especially if you are having it in/near any kind of big city.

In DC area, I gave up after not being able to do something half-way decent for 100 people for less than 20k$. Generally, for 100 people in DC area (as an example), with reception, and reasonably good tasting food, open full bar (no ultra-premiums), live music, you are looking at 30-40k$. This price is when you make your own center peices and favors.

Lucky for me, my fiancee would rather go to county court to get the papers done, and just throw a 10k$ party afterwards, saving the money to spend towards the honeymoon, and house.

Yeah, we are thinking about just having the wedding and a cocktail hour and then call it a night. What really gets me is the cost of a church. All the churches are at least $2k once you factor in the organist. It's 1200 to rent the place for 1 hr, then another $500 for the priest, then some require that you be part of the parish, then some do not let non baptized people get married (that one is understandable, actually).

We got really lucky with the people we knew helping us out with the cost of everything.

We haven't done a final cost total, but I'll get you ballpark.

Food - $1450
Refrigerated trailer + 200 1/3 pound burgers + 200 brats + unknown number of hot dogs + 75 pounds of potatoes into potato salad + 4 other sides + snack food for cocktail hour

This was the actual cost of food (I have a co-worker who used to work in catering, so she did everything for cost)

Wedding Gifts - $800
Gifts to everyone who helped in the wedding
(Leatherman multi-tools, canvas print of significant picture, good keychain flashlight, good bottle opener)

Rental Equipment - $600
Sound system, microphones, dance light system, 6 round tables, ambiance can lights, other misc. stuff

Liquor + Wine + mixers - $600
We had 20 bottles of wine + 15 bottles of liquor (LOTS left over)

Wedding Dress + Alterations - $250
Dress was $150 and $100 for the alternations

Park Shelter - $240
This was for two shelters next to each other (large one where ceremony took place + smaller enclosed one we used for food and bar tending)

Candy / Cake - $200
We had 199 individual bags with chocolates + mints for the guests. The cake was five $18 sheet cakes from Costco (people loved them)

Beer - $115
We got a keg of Miller Lite for the non-adventurous, but most folks drank HomeBrewerDude's home brew, which was his gift to us (along with picking up the ice)

Flowers + decorations - $100
Centerpieces material, ribbon, etc.
Wife's friend did the flowers for us at cost (she has business doing this)

Ice - $80
I think we went through about 40 twenty pound bags of ice?

Invitations + candy boxes + bells + thank you notes - $20
Lots of this stuff from the clearance area of the party supply store

DJ - $0
Wife's friend did the music from her computer hooked up to our rented system

Photographer - $0
Wife's friend did the photos, hopefully they'll be good =D

Officiant - $0
Co-worker of mine is ordained and did the ceremony for us as his gift

Master of Ceremonies - $0
The only guy we know of who knew both of us before we met each other (we met on OkCupid), was our MC

Miscelaneous Stuff - $1000
This is for everything I can't think of, or doesn't fit into a particular category (random bar tending supplies, lemonade dispenser, tape, cups, stamps etc.)

So... let's call that about $5500 total

Time to vent :p

"Photographer" friend had her D40X set to take small pictures the whole night. Our good group photos we took for an hour are 2.6 MP. No cropping for us :(

nice...

We are doing our tally. We are planning our next year in May. Looks like it's gonna be the same price, but with just a cocktail hour. I wanted to do a dinner, but the venue wanted $6000 just to rent the place.
