It's pretty easy to make a light sensitive trigger that will act just like a remote (a switch external to the camera used to trigger it), especially if you set the gain to only trigger on lightning strikes. The chances of a human reacting or guessing and snapping a picture like that are exceptionally low. I am pretty big into photography and I'm also a computer engineer, so this is one place where my two hobbies have combined.
