Youtube is my wikipedia for music. When someone tells me about a song or something, I listen to it on youtube. The only other thing I watch is Boogie10988. I am sure I could find another place to listen to music though. I don't use it enough to justify paying a monthly fee.
I won't pay for content that I can't stream in HD because of YouTube's slowness.
If ABP/noscript gets too in the way of Google making money, they'll figure out a way to keep you from dodging the ads.
Edit"
Btw, paying them $2 would be conditional on them fucking off with their real name campaign. As it stands, I wouldn't pay them anything out of principle.
If the Music Television Channel actually played music videos, YT would probably see a large descrese in traffic. I mean, how many times can you watch someone get nailed in the nuts, and most of the stuff we used to like to watch has been taken down.
Yes that pisses me off. Every couple video I get that stupid popup now. Freaking annoying. Wonder if there's a way to block that. Some kind of FF extension maybe?
I'd possibly pay a small monthly fee if it gave me access to stuff I'd normally have to pay for, as long as they also stop blocking stuff by country and as long as they stop blocking stuff that I put on.
Sorry, but am I missing something? I get that popup when I first log in, but nothing for the duration I'm logged in.
If you try to comment on a video, try to upload a video, or even just loading videos it shows up. It seems to be random for viewing videos though. I think it does it like every 3 videos or something like that, but did not really pay attention or count.
If you try to cancel out it will just non stop keep trying to convince you. Eventually it will accept that you don't want to use your real name, only to start prompting you again later. I've actually mostly stopped using Youtube because of it as it's extremely irritating to have a video get interrupted because of it.
I'm taking a wait and see approach to this one. I like the idea of this, for example Roger Corman launching a channel which will stream a bunch of his old movies is awesome, but some of the issues like video quality and buffering would definitely have to be addressed before I dive in.

Oh they'll address them alright...they'll just move the priority to the "premium" channels and the free content will suffer. Snake eating it's tail.
At least that's how I would think it'd happen, but I don't have high hopes and am sort of a pessimist when it comes to this topic.
I rather die than pay for youtube channels.
Well we shall see. I actually don't spend much on Youtube, but if they offer stuff like I mentioned above, then I would visit more often and would be happy to pay for the content if it was provided in a decent format.
Not a surprise since you don't seem to want to pay for anything.
