Couple of questions about YouTube.

-I was wanting to post some videos, but avoid any troll type response behaviour. I understand you can disable comments. Can you also disable video responses? Are these the best ways to avoid any harrasement, etc.? I'm guessing the only way to be sure you are safe is not post any pictures of your face or info about your identity?

-Not why I want to post, but just want to understand what's going on. I understand that you can make money from making videos for YouTube, to the point there are a lot of professional production teams on YouTube now. How does that work (the making money part)?

Thanks for your info!

I know you can make it so you need to approve video responses.

OK then. I guess anything you put up can be copied and manipulated though, anyway.

So, how about the money side of it, anyone know?

By default you need to approve video responses, so just ignore them as they come. Don't even deny them if you don't want any attention. Just ignore them outright. (they wont show up until you approve them)

Here's a hint: South Park spoofed "making money" on Youtube. AKA, it is not really possible. I suppose you can use it for free advertising, but as far as making directly from videos, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thanks RedSquirrel et al.
RE the money side of it, I have seen several videos where they mention in passing that making videos for YouTube is their job. And for many, the production value is obviously from a proffesional team.
And there seems to be this whole subculture built around"subscribing" and "views", and it often seems related to some kind of career type thing, if not directly to income.
Here's a link regarding some money issues:

You can make money on Youtube. There's an interview with Mr. Chi City where he discusses it.

http://metallungies.com/2009/0...mr-chi-city-interview/

ML: How do you make money on YouTube?

C-C: Aw, you never heard of the partnership program?

ML: Oh, that?s what it is.

C-C: Yeah, mayne.

ML: They pay you for your views, right?

C-C: Views, videos, it?s a whole long list of ways for you to get that dough, but the funny thing for me is, if you look at anybody on there ? and a lot of people don?t know this ? behind the scenes, when it comes to YouTube, dude, when you in that top 100, or every time you drop a video and you was ranked high or whatever, yo it?s big business, man. Real talk, it?s money over there. But the difference between me and those people is, those people do it strictly for the money, so that?s why you seem them post a video every other day, or once a day, or they advertise other people stuff, or they giving stuff away. And if you look at me, dude, I?ve only posted 22 videos and I?ve been on there for a year. I mean it?s cool, the money come in, but at the same time, the money doesn?t motivate me, because if that was the case, if I was about that dough, dog I would post every day.
