"We have even been contacted by police in Australia accusing us of having child pornography on our Web site. I resent this personally and this confusion is hurting our business."

Priceless.

This comes just weeks after YouTube gets bought by Google for 1.6bn. Timing is everything..

This guy wants either youtube to change its name, or to have youtube pay for utube to set up a new corporate identity. Why not just ask youtube to pay for the added bandwidth + hosting upgrade? I mean, it's freaking google...

Haha wasn't expecting that. The poor company, it would seem smarter just to ask for more servers or something to support the extra traffic, but I fail to see how Utube's argument will stand up in court.

I don't see why so many don't think this makes sense... especially since they are pronounced the same.

If they had the servers and bandwidth to handle it, I still think it would stand up in court.

I see the point of the gripe and think it's a very big cause for distress, but I do NOT see ANY point in a lawsuit that holds youtube responsible for it. It's not like youtube asked people to not know how to spell their site name and I'm certain there was no intent.

Dear Australian Police:
Check spelling first, then investigate.

No figures are given in the article as to how much money that Universal Tube is asking for to settle any of its grievances.

Did anyone actually read the formal legal complaint to the court by utube.com?

Friggin hilarious. You don't often get to see stuff like tampon fetishes, corpse defilement, etc. in legal documents.

probably $1.6bn. a modest (and coincidental) sum for damages.

Probably the fast and dirty solution to make some money back from all the bandwidth usage

Maybe Google should just host them and give them a nice cush spot at the top of the ad word listings. Everyone wins.
