Yeah, AdBlock Plus will skip ads in a lot of videos. Although, I've noticed that Hulu will just tell me that it's unable the load the ad, but I still have to wait for the 30 seconds to 1 minute. :\
YouTube is usually a mixed bag for me. Sometimes I have absolutely no problems at all, and other times it seems terribly slow. Sometimes it seems the videos stop working properly if I change the resolution before the video started playing. If the video doesn't seem to be loading at all, I usually just hit refresh and try changing the resolution again. That typically fixes it.
No matter what though, YouTube at least works better than Facebook... that site is awfully buggy.
