I've used the free version of this for a few years. I don't know all the details, but I was able to upload files less than 100MB and I think up to 1GB downloads were possible by a variety of recipients, and the uploaded file remained available for 7 days. I've been getting emails very frequently by them trying to induce me to pay for upgraded services, but my requirements are modest. I just tried to upload a 56MB MP3 file so that a person can download it and I got a dialog box saying "That's a pretty big file..." and it wanted me to pay for extra services. I couldn't make out if it was just a come on or they've changed the free version to limit it to files of under 50MB. If that's the case, do I have an alternative to send this guy the 56MB file? :\

The only way out of the popup dialog is to click one of those two buttons. I don't want to sign up, so I hit cancel and the send is cancelled. WTF. Sucks that YouSendIt is downgrading their free service trying to ensnare customers. 😡

I don't know much about this guy. He has a yahoo email account and I do have his phone number. I don't know that he's particularly tech savvy. Worst comes to worst I could ask him for an address and send him a CD. Suggestions appreciated.

Megaupload rocks, never any nags, bigger file size limitations than yousendit, free, files remain downloadable for 30 days after last download. Check out wikipedia for the lowdown.

Dropbox 2gb is pretty awesome:
