I'm Typing,
I don't know what "corporate welfare" is specifically so I can't comment.
Vouchers, I'm against. However, something has to be done to reel in the NEA and make teachers more effective. Granted, kicking some parents in the arse would go a long. I live in upstate NY. Living costs up here are relatively moderate. In my school district the average salary for a teacher is over $56K. That's average, so young one's are making less, older ones more. $56K with summers off and every holiday ever invented!! Don't anybody tell me they're underpaid. Personally, I lived in the LA area for 6 years and think winters sukk. I'd give my proverbial eye tooth for summers off.
..and overworked. Ours is a very well rated school district but my kids get little or no homework. Why? Because teachers don't want to work to correct them. One day that my wife went into class to help out, my son's teacher had her correcting homework not helping the kids. What a bunch of crap.
Just another reason I'm a Republican. Although, personally, I think the 2 party system is a conspiracy. The Dems and Reps drink, eat and sleep together and decide who is going to be a jerk on which issue because if any one party got their $hit together the other party would be voted out of existence. And neither party wants that. Then they wouldn't be able to sustain their egos, salaries, patronage jobs and other corruption.
