is that to say it should be common sense that strippers are rich ?

Smart strippers at the right clubs make a lot more than most of us and it is all cash. If they are smart about their money, they can set themselves up quite well before they have to tuck their breasts into their belts...

LOL How'd we get to discussing last night's eppie to Alla, the former stripper? :Q

I watched the entire episode (Nightstalker was too scary last night) and I have to say, I was rooting for the team that went with golf; the baseball thingy was excellent and all, but I agree with Bill Rancic that it ended up being a "clinic" rather than a sales day. I still can't believe they had a 34% sales deficit! That's A LOT, esp. for a big store like that. I think the store was out for blood, hence Mr. Trump firing that many people! It'll be interesting to see how the teams are rearranged again...

That store may have seen a 1 day sales drop, but that was a whole lot of advertising for the chain...

and I don't see how you could accurately calculate average sales for a specific 5 hour period on a given day and say they singlehandedly affected sales. Any day of the week could see fluctuations based on external factors (weather, other events, etc.)

True, but stores like that have sales forecasts for weeks on end. Even with a huge promo event like that, I'm sure they were hoping an increase in the Baseball department...

yeah, but to arbitrarily say that the Event caused a 74% increase or 34% decrease is simplistic. I know that especially for stores like sporting goods, they will see an increase in business if the weather is bad, because people will buy merchandise when they can't be out playing.

Excel definitely didn't focus on sales enough, but also considering the game of golf usually involves more expensive equipment, I wasn't surprised.

Keep in mind that it's not sales percentage increase for the entire store -- its for the specific department they chose. A 74% increase for that number of hours in the golf department is HUGE. Mostly because golf products are expensive, IMHO.

This whole show is simplistic.

However, the task was quite explicit. Whoever got the biggest % increase in revenue for that area won.

If you really wanted to be smart about it, you could interview the Dick's executives and ask what departments have the highest variance in average daily sales and discuss the reasons for that variance. Based on that information, you could pick the department that your promotion would have the most likely effect on revenue on a percent basis. Another viable angle would be to pick a department that sells the least - i.e. has the most room for growth and focus on that one. Then you design some sort of interactive experience based on that sport to drive sales.

This sets you up to succeed and leaves you with one thing to focus on: SELLING

The guys that got fired, did none of this.

The guys that selected golf didn't do that either, and none of them knew the sport but they all winged it! You also have to look at the culture of the sport -- golf is fairly expensive, ergo people who shop then "can afford" whatever they're buying, and are most likely looking for an excuse to get the latest and greatest (the event they pulled out worked to that advantage; watch the kiddies while the parents are shopping). Baseball, on the other hand, is a sport for "everyone" and even though it's popular, that doesn't mean that people who shop in that department have money to burn for unexpected purchases. The baseball team should've chosen croquet... 😛 😉

Buy yah, the main focus is selling.

They did design an interactive event to drive sales: suck in the kids and sell to the parents.

And sell they did!

I still can't believe they pulled that off without knowing the sport! Even Carolyn was surprised!

Ultimate You're Fired! Would be in the last episode, after the remaining candidate wins, the producer would then enter the frame, telling Trump that they're not renewing the show for next season, then telling him "Now YOU'RE fired!"

That'd be awesome..

/hates Donald Trump cause' he just doesn't seem to be that great of a businessman

What a lame excuse to hate someone. If you don't like him, then that's fine, but you could do better than that.

I uh don't like uh Bill Gates because uh he's not that great at fastpitch softball.

BTW, I'm 99% sure this Dick's is the one in Garden City, LI (Roosevelt Field Mall) ... which only recently opened up (sometime just before summer). They shot this around then. The sales days weren't the same and the baseball day could've been on a rainy day (rain was shown), further affecting "daily average revenue". Undoubtedly having people line up for batting instead of shopping around the floor was a mistake in addition.

Elizabeth is so frickin beautiful. I may even prefer her over Amy Henry from season 1, and that's saying a lot. Mmm smart beautiful women.

Elizabeth? I don't think there's a candidate named Elizabeth this season...
