Microsoft released a file some time ago named Boot_vis.exe
It is geared toward optimizing your computer's (XP systems) boot time. If you have a lower to middle of the road system that takes over 30 seconds to boot, you will notice considerable gains. Do a search on their site. You won't be disappointed.

P4 1.5 256 RDRAM = 16 seconds

It depends. In OSX it takes about 30-45 seconds for XP to boot, and in classic it loads in about 10-15 seconds. I think as VPC5 is optimized and OSX is better optimized, the load times will be more on par with each other.

Wow, mine takes about 45sec to 1 minute. It must be all my PCI cards and my 7 USB devices :D Of course, my Promise RAID controller doesn't help either.

Yeah, my shut down times are too long--in fact, I just manually turn off my computer now--it doesn't seem to shut down or restart under WinXP...I think it has something to do with the onboard Promise RAID controller on my A7V133...I have the newest Promise drivers from ASUS' website but XP still says that those drivers aren't signed and upon bootup, Windows prompts me and says that the RAID controller will be turned off or something to keep my computer from blowing up.

That's enough to get me to kill the RAID on my HDs after finals.
