What type of site designs do you find the most appealing? What catches your eye the most, and what encourages you to stay the longest?

1. Full width, fully expanded
2. Fixed width, 1024x720 optomized
3. Fixed width, 800x600 optomized

and

1. Left justified
2. Center justified

and

1. Single column layout
2. Double column layout
3. Triple column layout

and

1. Graphics rich, strong colors
2. Simple design, plain/pastel/gray colors

and

1. Single linear menu
2. Two dimensional menu - categories + subpages

Okay I think that does it.

Your responses may help me decide how to approach a website I've been working on forever. 😕 Thanks! 🙂

Kind of a portal layout, 3 columns (left 200px, center 450px, right 200px) total fixed size 850 centered in the middle of the page. A nice patterned bg behind all of that.

Not too graphic intensive, enough to get the point across, server must be fast to load it all (graphics, text, includes)within 4 seconds

1) Full width (fully expanded) - I don't want half the page white. If a design can't be made so it will scale gracefully, its time for a new design 🙂

2) Center - If it has to be fixed with, I prefer it to be at least centered

Not sure about the next one...I'll think about it and try to get back 🙂

1.5) Enough graphics to get the point across, but with a simple, clean and easy to follow design

2) Two dimensional menu, unless a site is really simple.

Wow, I think this has been one of the most productive threads I've ever started here. 😀

So far the majority has prefered a centered layout. Although everyone has a different idea how they prefer the columns. I guess for starters I'll begin with the centered page and wait for the thread to grow a little more before I get too far.
