All-time?

Starcraft
Counter-Strike:Source
Baldur's Gate II

This is probably going by hours-put-into, but still sounds about right.

You do realize that FF6 > FF8 > FF7 and all are eclipsed by Chrono Trigger?

I used to be a hardcore gamer on the PC then swithced to consoles for a long time so my list probably is going to suck, but....

1. Full Throttle-This was my first gaming experience on the PC that I can really remember. They don't make games like this anymore and it's a shame because this game is fantastic.

2. F22 Raptor-I loved flight sims and this was the best one I ever played.

3. Mass Effect-I just recently upgraded my computer to a kick ass gaming rig and I heard so many great things about this that I had to play it. This game was pure brilliance. I had to do a clean install of Vista 64bit so it's my excuse to re-install this game and play it again before ME2 comes out.

You do realize Chrono Trigger was never officially ported to the PC? However, Final Fantasy 7 was, as well as 8.

1 The Elder Scrolls - Arena - I almost said Daggerfall, but Arena really was the game that made me a pc gamer (instead of just dabbling with them on school computers)

2. Baldur's Gate 2 - I'd love to nominate all of the bioware dnd games, but BG2 was my favorite.

3. Quake - if I can add the team fortress mod. I played many many hours of Quake tf. I played some ctf too, as well as death match. But, my clan was team fortress based, and thats what I liked the most.

And I'd like to nominate Everquest as my most loved AND hated game ever. I'd dabbled with some muds and ultima online before eq. But, I was extremely addicted to eq for many, many years. It's the game that broke me of ever being serious about another mmorpg ever again (although I'll dabble with just about any of them now). Just thinking of playing Eq again makes me want to hurl just a little.

Heroes of Might and Magic III - Classic. Huge timesink. Love/Hate, mostly love.

Starcraft - Playing it for the first time was like a spiritual experience.

WoW - Played it for a few months... never have I played a game so much in such a short span of time.

Fuckit, I was right, it is too hard to make a simple list of only 3 items. I'll have to come up with an advanced list of top 5 in each category.

First off: TBS's.

1. Master of Orion 2 (I'll call this a TBS for now, but later I might make up a special list of space conquor games)
2. Heroes Of Might & Magic 3
3. Disciples 2, Gold
4. Lords of the Realm 2
5. Age of Wonders (cant decide which one is my fave)

1. Another for Heroes of might and magic 3(although i also loved 2)
2. Warcraft 3 tft, as i still play this game several years later and it is the best put together and balanced rts I have ever played
3. Diablo II because it had the most fun multiplayer of any game I have ever played.

honorable mentions: Worms(endless 2 player fun), SWG(i know its poop now) Star Craft(obvious) and Syndicate(best game I ever played on my mac)

Thief: The Dark Project
UT99 (including tactical ops mod, which I always considered far better than counterstrike)
I can't choose a third but it's between starcraft, diablo, max payne, jedi knight and motocross madness.

I have several favorites because I've been playing PC games for over a dozen years.
The only way to get it down to a top 3 would be for a specific genre.

Top 3 FPS:
Quake 1 & QuakeWorld mods like ThreeWave CTF and TeamFortress
DOOM / DOOM 2
Duke Nukem 3D

Top 3 RTS:
Total Annihilation
Command & Conquer and C&C: Red Alert 1 & 2
The Homeworld series

Top 3 Other:
MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries / MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries w/ the MekTek packs
The Descent series
The Total War series

Top 3 Multiplayer FPS:
Call of Duty 4
Unreal Tournament 2004 & mods
Quake 3 Arena & mods

Top 3 Multiplayer runners-up: ;)
Soldier of Fortune 2
Counterstrike: Source & mods
Tribes 2/3

1. Resident Evil 2
First game that really thrusted me into gaming and wow'ed me at what games could do.
2. Command and Conquer
The reason why I love RTS's to date.
3. COD 4 Modern Warfare (Multiplayer)
The only multiplayer game I could remember playing. I spent 4-5 days a week and sometimes 4 hrs a day playing this game. And I was damn good at the game!
