I define a great album as one that you can listen to from start to finish without the urge to skip a song or 2. Please do not include 'best of' albums as this defeats the purpose of a quality studio album. I'm gonna try to avoid listing more than 1 album from a single artist but do as you wish in that regard.

1. Alice 'n Chains - Dirt (not necessarily my favorite band but this album is great)
2. Metallica - Master of Puppets
3. Godsmack - Faceless
4. GNR - Appetite for destruction
5. Marilyn Manson - Superstar
6. Pantera - Great Southern Trendkill - This was a hard choice
7. Megadeth - So far, So good, So what.
8. Tool - Undertow
9. Hatebreed - The rise of brutality
10. Chevelle - Wonder what's next

1. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
2. Alice In Chains - Dirt
3. Soundgarden - Superunknown
4. Pearl Jam - Ten
5. Nirvana - Nevermind
(the rest are up for debate)
6. Radiohead - Kid A
7. Jeff Buckley - Grace
8. Temple of the Dog - Temple of the Dog
9. Tool - 10,000 Days
10. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - (Someone had to mention it)

Tool's Aenima came to mind, but it doesn't really fit the "not skipping any songs" criteria.

1. Nirvana - Unplugged in New York
2. Metallica - S&M
3. Johnny Cash - American IV: The Man Comes Around
4. Social Distortion - Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll
5. Johnny Cash - American V: A Hundred Highways
6. Metallica - Ride the Lightning
7. The Band - Music from Big Pink
8. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
9. Johnny Cash - American II: Unchained
10. Sublime - 40oz to Freedom

I know a couple of them are live albums and not studio albums, but I don't care - they are still superior to a studio album with the same material.

Exactly otherwise mine would have been full of Metallica and Pantera :)

Avoiding multiples, and in no particular order...

Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness
Tool - 10,000 Days
Cake - Comfort Eagle
Matthew Good Band - Underdogs
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By the Way
Green Day - American Idiot
Alice in Chains - Dirt
Audioslave - self-titled
Stone Temple Pilots - Purple

I own multiple albums for each of these bands.

It's sad that I only managed to squeeze one Canadian band in there, but hey, it's definitely tough to narrow it down to 10.

There's a few others but a dozen is already more than what's allowed :p
