The Killers - Hot Fuss
Modest Mouse - Good News ...
Green Day - American Idiot
Franz Ferdinand
LPJZ - Collision Course
Black Eyed Peas - Elephunk (2003?)

oh yeah...forgot Kanye, but then again I didn't buy that one.

I'd just like to throw the Garden State Soundtrack into this list.
Not really an album since it's from a lot of artists, but it's still damn good.

Let's see...

Kanye West - College Dropout
Chevelle - This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In
Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News

I can't go through them all because I can't remember which came out in 2004.

I don't know of any more that came out in 2004.
Typical of any new Incubus fan. Have you even HEARD S.C.I.E.N.C.E.?

I see a few mentions of Modest Mouse... maybe I'll give it another try. I kept hearing about how they were really good and whatnot, so I suppose I was just disappointed when I finally heard it and it was pretty mediocre.

There really wasn't much that I enjoyed over the last year.

Greenday - American Idiot
Tiger Army - Tiger Army III
Tsunami Bomb - The Definative Act
Horror Pops - Hell Yeah

That's about all that comes to mind.

1. The Killers - Hot Fuss
2. The Killers - Hot Fuss
3. The Killers - Hot Fuss
4. Green Day - American Idiot

I liked some of the albums mentioned above, but was also a fan of The Arcade Fire - Funeral.

Just checked the reviews, and I'll definitely have to give that one a listen.

I heard a song on XM called "power out" by them. Really good stuff. Maybe I should get the whole thing.

forgot:

Hopesfall - A-Types
The Haunted - Revolver

rock isn't dead, you just have to know where to look... and stop listening to modest mouse 😉

I wouldn't consider myself a "new" Incubus fan... I've listened to them for four years. And yes, I've heard S.C.I.E.N.C.E.

What's your point?

1. Eagles of Death Metal - Peace Love Death Metal
2. The Paper Chase - God Bless Your Black Heart
3. Minus Story - The Captain is Dead, Let The Drum Corpse Dance
4. Volcano - Volcano
...
...
10. Green Day - American Idiot

that's all that's coming to mind....

I think Tiger Army might just make it onto my list as well. I used "Rise" as one of the audio clips in my compilation video from the Vans Triple Crown of Skateboarding.

The point is that there are a lot of people out there that no matter what any group does, thir early stuff is gold and their later stuff is sell-out crap. This condition runs rampant among the self-professed musical elitists. Just ignore them.

I think the new Incubus CD was one of their best, and also one of the best of the year. I'll also add Prince's Musicology to the list.

"Hot Fuss" by The Killers and "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" by Modest Mouse are probably the only two albums of '04 that really caught my attention.

Just checked out a few samples from The Killers on Amazon, I'll definitely have to see about that one.

Same here, 2004 was pretty bad.

I can't think of any really awesome albums released in 2004 🙁

I predict my #1 in 2005 will be a tie between With Teeth and the new TOOL album provided it is released on time (please oh please).

The Killers - Hot Fuss
The Postal Service - Give Up
Handsome Boy Modeling School - White People
Franz Ferdiand - Frand Ferdinand
Kanye West - College Dropout
Interpol - Antics
Greenday - American Idiot
The Garden State Soundtrack
Nas - streets disciple

The first 9 are in no particular order. My top album for 2004 was The Grey Album from Jay-Z and DJ Danger Mouse. Yall gotta check that you. The Black album was great on its own but this version was spectacular.
