I always though of Jack Johnson as an album by Miles Davis that was the first to fuse rock and jazz.

I think you're thinking of Big Jack Johnson. I think Miles Davis did a tribute to him. The Jack Johnson I'm speaking of is a Hawaiian acoustic guitarist.

I didn't read the thread so maybe (probably) someone already answered that, but it means "The king is dead, long live the king" from French. And it's about the only sentense in French that I know. :)

All time list:

1. Enigma "MCMXC a.D" (no offense, but Enigma 3 is my least favorite)
2. Sarah McLachlan "Fumbling Towards Ecstacy" (Brings me right back to 1994)
3. James Taylor "Greatest Hits" (I love this guy... words can't begin to express...)
4. Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of The Moon" (surprised this wasn't mentioned already... I love all PF, but this one gets more play than the others)
5. Elton John "Madman Across The Water" (my favorite Elton album of all time)

It's unfair because I really have a lot more than that... but I'd say those have spun in my CD player more than any others (now that my entire CD collection is in mp3 form I don't have to worry about them getting any more scratches. Although I'm sure they'll all succumb to laser rot eventually.

Currently getting the majority of my ears' attention:

1. Blackalicious "NIA" (Hip-hop at its finest)
2. Soulive "Next" (The addition of the sax has really changed this group for the better... /me likes!)
3. Jeff Buckley "Grace" (I never get tired of this disc...)
4. The White Stripes "White Blood Cells" (it's everything Rock should be)
5. Zero 7 "Simple Things" (gorgeous album... keeping me occupied until Air drops their next masterpiece)

But I saw some other great nominations as well - Jack Johnson is really chill. Every Pink Floyd album is a masterpiece in its own right. Bob Marley, Neil Young, Phish, Radiohead, Lauryn Hill, Miles Davis, Beatles, Beach Boys, S&G... all among my favorites.

Edit: That Ben Folds disc is so great. His character sketches are so vivid. And that Fiona Apple album is another keeper--reminds me of my Sophomore year in college.
