3800+ you mean?
I think most people reach 2.4-2.5 easily on stock hs/f. I'd buy it now if I wasn't waiting for am2.

if your planning on ocing, then get the opteron since they can oc pretty high even at stock voltage....but remember, everything still depends on luck.

I've had my opty up to 2.5 with only minimal increases in voltage but I run it mainly at stock.

AM2 is the new 940 pin platform from AMD next month (at earliest), it includes ddr2 support, some minor tweaks, supposedly a 333 HTT, and the 3800+ would be replaced by the 4200+ at the same price.

Right now I have the X2 3800+ and I've come to the conclusion that I've run out of money to buy games for it to run intensively

I'm guessing you already have a s939 motherboard waiting for it's cpu to come home?

If you have the $, go for it... I pulled the trigger and have no regrets... Came from an old Barton 2500+ oc'd to 3000...

x2 3800 on an ASROCK 939dual-sataII... Stock voltage 2.5ghz, 2.55 at 1.4v.. On stock fan, but that's about to change before I push it more... Corsair Value Select DDR400 mem too.. running 212mhz or so I think, basically 166mhz + overclock.. stock settings of 2.5-3-3-8.. no heat spreaders... not bad for cheap stuff..

Upgrades come down to Graphics then GPU. If you have good GPU, then go CPU, but always address the GPU first unless you are really, really behind in the CPU and mem area...
