Your theory for why everyone is jumping Bush's ship?

He is going to make his people work. plain and simple. and in case you havent noticed people cant get rich working on a governmanet salary. Federal Executive pay is capped by the govmt. These people didnt attend some community college.

Um, they're all afraid of the reign of terror that is about to ensue? 4 years of unchecked power. It'll be like a frat boy at a freshman party.

If that were so, the safest place to be would be in an office in the White House.

Yep - pretty sure both Clinton & Reagan had around 50% turnover, if not more...

Indeed. Conspiracy theories aside, this happens for most second term presidents.

I like the whackos claims about a sinking ship, right after he beat their "candidate".

Well, Kerry was "my" candidate too. But unlike some people, I'm perfectly willing to stick to ACTUAL problems instead of inventing them...there is certainly no need for that, the truth works better than conspiracy theories. The truth serves no master, as they say 😉

They didn't jump, they were pushed.

Ashcroft gets replaced by someone who approves of torture and locking people up without charges or an attorney.

Powell gets replaced by someone who will tell Bush what he wants to hear instead of what he needs to hear.

Goss wants a CIA "supportive" of this administration in an organization that should be apolitical.

No dissent, no differing opinions, no real thought.

Just what GWB wants.

Really, it's a further strengthening of the 4th Reicht.

Better to resign than die in a plane crash Text

Seriously though, the appointments are generally considered a single term appointment, and they aren't so much resigning as "not being asked to remain."

I think Tom Ridge is the only one that actually resigned that the administration would have preferred remain, but he's also a potential 08' presidential candidate & it's hard to run as president if all people remember about you is those stupid warnings.

I suspect the Administration would have preferred Powell remain also, but he's made it well knwon for ~1.5 years that he planned to leave.

I strongly disagree with your statement about Powell. He has been a thorn in the side of this administration since Iraq came on the table. Bob Woodward does a good job of describing how Powell was cut out of the decision making process.

It has been Cheney, Rummy and Wolfie against Powell, and Powell didn't say a damned thing Bush wanted to hear.

That may well be reality.

To back up my claim about "not being asked to remain"Princippi comment

But the former San Diego businessman and attorney said he has not had a chance to talk with President Bush about whether he will continue to head the VA during Bush's second term, move to another agency or return to private life.

Well at least Kerry can rejoin the French Resistance now.

You have proof that Kerry belonged to the French Resistance?

I thought he would have been too young back then...

To the OP question.

Your theory for why everyone is jumping Bush's ship?

To facilitate the consolidation of fascist control.

Powell was a little bit too good a soldier for Bush. Certainly more than Bush deserved.
