Your Studying Techniques?

I Notice alot of people on here are in college, so alot of you have to study for mid terms etc. I was just interested to know your approach to doing so. Do u study in slots then take a small break? What if you say have 2 different subjects to study for, do u mix and match or get one over with and move on? Do you just read or take notes?

I tend to spend an hour studying. then i have a 5 min break. I like to do one subject at a time

BTW: if you are one of those people that prefers to have music on, what are some good tracks?

thanks for input 😀

I leave the house and drive to a park. Then sit in my car for an hour or so and read. Too many disturbances at home...

I like to sit down to do homework, then get on the computer for a few hours, then do about 20 mins of homework and then back to the computer. 😀
I usually just work on one subject for awhile till that gets old and then go to a different one. Music is definitly good, I like to put on Greenday.

It's been awhile, but for me the key to learning math and CS was to spread out the reading and exercises over several days instead of trying to learn a week's worth all in one big gulp. And never try to learn the day of a test, you should be reviewing not learning by that point.

Music: yes, definitely, either somewhat mellow singer-songwriter stuff like Sarah McLachlan and Peter Himmelman (vs. Chili Peppers or Soundgarden) or classical (vivaldi, bach, other Baroque, concertos more than symphonies).

lol crazy folk

Same here. The only homework I actually do is Math homework though since everything else is reading and I obviously can't listen to music while doing that 😛

Music helps me think sometimes and it keeps you interested so you don't get distracted as easily.

Well I always took good notes in college and went to every class. Somehow, for me, this made me learn the material. When it came time for an exam I re-read my notes and that was it.

<---even with a learning disabliity (dislexia and disgraohia) I got 4.0 last two years🙂

There are studying techniques? In college I would just sit in front of the TV or computer with my textbook open and hope that I'd learn something.

i've always had the ability to study very little but know a lot of the info...

i guess i just pay attention in class... i take notes on everything, then when i need to study i just look over the notes and only study things i don't know...

my study sessions are really short, but then again, i dont have a lot of tests because im an animation major 😛

I find Classical/Romantic music is fine when I'm reading. Anything with lyrics puts me off though.

I tend to do most of my work on my bed. it's more comfy 😛
right now I've got my notebook, laptop and more notebooks sprawled out, and me lying on my stomach in front of it writing away.

I take lots of notes and go to every class, so my study time is minimal. Calculus is the only class I spend a lot of time in. For that one, I do all assigned problems and do the chapter reviews when preparing for a test. For most other classes, I review quizzes, notes, and major points in the text. I do well grades-wise, and I don't have to spend all my free time to get there.

ahh, i remember that Robert Plant's new album "Dreamland" helped me study better. It's a lot different than Zeppelin/early solo albums, a lot more mellow.

Any nonintrusive instrumental music, or nature sound type stuff
I only study the night before a test/final, it sticks in my mind better.
I don't study long, or I'll cloud my mind with stuff. I skim mostly. Also I like to quiz with other people, that helps a lot.

You can't have sex and eat a hot fudge sundae with nuts, whipped cream and a marischino cherry at the same time.

Well, ....I guess you could, it would be kind of messy, though.

I don't study, I really should learn how to though, since I'm a college student. I guess I should learn how to study before I switch into science. 😕
